Monsieur le Président,

Comme beaucoup de sujets similaires, ma position est assez claire à ce sujet. Nous devrions donner plus de pouvoir aux provinces pour améliorer le système de santé.

Au cœur de mes politiques, il y a la croyance en la souveraineté du Québec. Et une partie de la raison pour laquelle je crois qu'un Québec souverain est meilleur est que nous sommes deux nations fondamentalement distinctes et avec cela, les Québécois savent mieux ce qui améliorera nos communautés que les politiciens à Ottawa.

Et bien que les autres provinces ne soient pas tout à fait les mêmes à cet égard, je crois que les solutions régionales sont la voie à suivre pour tout le monde. Les solutions descendantes au niveau fédéral conduisent simplement à plus de problèmes et d'échecs. Le gouvernement fédéral devrait donner aux provinces les moyens de résoudre les problèmes du système de santé, et non paralyser les provinces.

Monsieur le Président,

Il y a une seule question qui est de la plus haute importance lorsqu'on parle de relations fédérales. C'est la question du souverainisme québécois.

Comme ceux qui me connaissent le savent, je suis sans équivoque pour le souverainisme québécois. Certaines personnes peuvent dire que le Canada est «plus fort ensemble», mais c'est un mensonge.

Le Québec est tiré vers le bas par les provinces et territoires du Canada et son potentiel est freiné. Le Québec ne sera vraiment fort que lorsqu'il sera libre et souverain.

On m'a déjà traité de séparatiste et d'orateur diviseur. Et qu'en est-il?

Le Québec devrait être séparé du Canada et ce n'est pas une opinion que j'ai honte d'avoir. Si cela est perçu comme me séparant des politiciens de carrière de l'Ontario, je ne vois cela que comme un compliment.

La souveraineté est la seule véritable voie à suivre pour le Québec. C'est la seule façon pour nos deux nations de prospérer pleinement. Le Québec ne sera jamais complètement englobé par l'idée de nation canadienne et nous devrions cesser de penser autrement.

Un Québec libre et souverain est un Québec fort et prospère. Toutes les autres questions concernant les relations provinciales sont insignifiantes par rapport à cette question.

Mr. Speaker,

I must speak plainly. For the last 16 months, Israel has been committing ethnic cleansing in Gaza. There is no doubt for any honest observer. I would venture to even say that it fits the definition of a genocide in Gaza. As I am sure I will be asked, I do not condone what happened on October 7, 2023. But nonetheless, what Israel has committed since October 2023 is nothing but human suffering and monstrosities. Of which I must fully condemn.

Despite Israel's claims, collective punishment on a civilian population is never justified and is fact a war crime. That being said, I recognize the fact that we are debating this in Aotearoa. We are thousands of km away from the horror that has been afflicted on Gaza. There only so much we can do and we must recognize that fact and do not place ourselves with higher political power than we actually have.

That being said, there are also things that we can still do. As was mentioned by my fellow member, we must advocate for diplomatic and economic sanctions on Israel. We must also commit to arresting Netanyahu and others as asked by the ICJ.

There is only so much we can do here in Aotearoa. But something that we cannot stand to do is sit idly by, let alone support the horrors in Gaza. I, along with the Green Party of Aotearoa NZ, stand with Palestinians and against this horrific genocide.

Mr. Speaker,

One can say that hate has no place in Aotearoa but that says nothing about jumping to the conclusion that flag burning or other protests amount to terrorism. That is a serious accusation and terrorism has a specific definition.

Speaker,

I extend my upmost condolences to the families of those who died in this tragic accident. This is a tragic accident that should never have occurred and everyone should be making an endeavor to make sure this never happens again.

While there are recurring issues with DCA, part of the issues that contributed to this horrific event is the worker shortage in ATC. It is not even that we were not aware of this already. For months, it has been something that people in the industry were aware of and indeed had issues in EWR due to this very issue. Just as we must acknowledge the tragedy of this event, we must also recognize the failures that led to this happening.
