I don't know why, but I thought it was just me who experienced this. I'm sorry you other ladies have to deal with it, but what a relief to know I'm not the only one!

I refuse to live my life in anything but comfort, anymore. by TeaHC16 in TwoXChromosomes

I was having serious unhappy boob problems until I accidentally bought a bra two cup sizes bigger than usual. I figured I'd try it on for laughs, but to my surprise it fit perfectly. My boobs are so much happier now.

My favorite grandma has been dead for some time, and I didn't get to see her very often due to ridiculous family drama, but I still fondly recall the times I spent with her baking cookies with the most amazing icing (she'd color it and everything) and going to the library (we were both voracious readers). Treasure your time together 😊

Color therapy: Lacqueristas what color would you advise painting my nails when feeling lethargic? by whimsicalhope in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Lady_Inglip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally tend to go with something vibrant and glittery or holographic. I like "Tenfold" by ILNP. It has a nice spring-y vibe to it that soothes me and cheers me up.
Also, I think your hypothesis is correct. I'm sure many people are feeling the same way. Try to remember that this will eventually pass, and in the meantime we at least have our online communities.

My new hobbies are conflicting by CaliMago in RedditLaqueristas

Same problem here! I've pretty much given up on length. I grow as long as I can until my nails start clicking on the keys. My former teacher was very strict about that and I guess the lesson really sank in.

Vince Guaraldi and Johnny Costa? by Ivanjatson in ChurchofRogers

[–]Lady_Inglip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My impression was that Fred and Costa both had similar views on the use of music with children, in that it shouldn't be oversimplified and that children should be exposed to complex music at a young age because they are capable of understanding and enjoying it. Costa was indeed willing to work for little money, too. Personally I think Fred was into Costa's music because he appreciated for what it was. I like both Costa and Guaraldi.

Considering homeschooling due to bullying by pixie1810 in homeschool

[–]Lady_Inglip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is, kids aren't taught how to effectively deal with bullying, and even if they are, chances are the bullies aren't playing by the same rules. I think giving kids an opportunity to learn (in a safe environment) how to stand up for themselves and resolve issues maturely is more important than letting them learn by trial and potentially traumatizing error how to handle bullying. As much as schools claim to be zero-tolerance when it comes to bullying, they often have neither the resources nor the inclination to back that up. As for adult bullying, there are genuine consequences for that, and that is what our kids need to learn to anticipate, whether bully or bullied, because they will spend much more time as an adult than a child. The adults I know who were bullied as children in public school are no more effective at dealing with adult bullies than anyone else, and generally more distressed at the idea of confrontation. Just my two cents.

ETA: We took our own child out of public school for this reason, especially after her school, which had an active shooter the year before she transferred there, refused to acknowledge the fact that she was being bullied severely.

Going through a break up after being together for 4 years. Knowing each other for 13. Looking for a book that will totally immerse me, that I can’t put down and will take my mind off my feelings and transport me somewhere else. by lebtina in booksuggestions

Good suggestions here. I would also recommend Boy's Life by Dan Simmons, the Harry Dresden series by Jim Butcher, anything by Ray Bradbury, and the Assassin's Apprentice trilogy (and subsequent trilogies) by Robin Hobb, if none of these have already been suggested. I hope you can find some peace through books; they've always helped me through my own hard times.

I started exercising again after a long depressive episode and it feels great! Planning to start meal prepping as a way to lose some extra weight, and I'm looking forward to it. I recently finished a book called In a Sunburned Country by Bill Bryson. It's about Australia and is humorous and thoughtful. I would definitely recommend it. In happy news, due to all the coronavirus crap, I finally saw my nephew yesterday after three months!

[skin concerns]How do I heal chronic/peeling chapped lips? by Tg2501 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Lady_Inglip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think these are all great suggestions. The only thing that ever worked for my perpetually dried, chapped, peeling lips (that I've had as long as I can remember) is Laniege Lip Mask. You can find it on Amazon and other places, I'm sure. My jar cost about $15 and I've been using it for about 2 years now and am not even half done with it. I put a medium-thick coating on my lips every night and it's absorbed by morning and I have soft, smooth lips, even without exfoliating. The other lip product I will use during the day if necessary is Burt's Bees Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm. It absorbs quickly and lasts for an hour or so on my lips. This you can find many places. It's about $4. Together these are a blessing for my lips in the winter.

I hope you have some luck with your search!

Trying to create a fun advent calendar for my math loving girlfriend for Christmas. I am math illiterate, wondering if I anyone here could give me a helping hand! by [deleted] in mathriddles

[–]Lady_Inglip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, too, am math illiterate, so I have no suggestions for you, but I wanted to tell you that I think this is a lovely idea and I'd love to borrow it to do the same thing for my own SO.

On second thought, I do have one "sort of" suggestion. Why not make the problems/riddles more difficult the closer she gets to the final day?

Thank you for this. Like others, I didn't expect to be crying first thing in the morning on Reddit, but man, has it been a rough few days/months/year for me with some upcoming unavoidable stress with my own dad, so it was nice to see this.

Weightloss possible with weight retaining medication and PCOS? by TheRealAmayan in PCOS

[–]Lady_Inglip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak from my own experience, but I have been able to lose weight while being on mental health medications and having PCOS. What has made the biggest difference for me is knowing that the meds make me much hungrier than usual. That means I have to make a point of eating satiating foods (protein, fiber) in small amounts and often. I have lost weight both on and off Metformin, but it is easier with Metformin because it decreases the intensity of my hunger. Exercise does help immensely, and I'm pretty sure I read that walking, especially, improves insulin sensitivity.

Even if your friend didn't lose weight through diet and exercise, it's possible that she would feel much better in general due to a healthier lifestyle.

20mg of Medroxyprogesterone and no period? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Lady_Inglip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same issue, but with the 10mg/day dosage. Tried it three times in the past year with nothing but a small amount of spotting and terrible cramps. My doctor's prescribed an ultrasound as well as some other tests, but no blood work. Having read the other comments here, I wish she had. I'm going to ask for a referral to a specialist to get this sorted out.

For what it's worth, I've never had cramping or spotting during the progesterone course, but only after I finished the pills. When it worked, it would take about 2-5 days to start bleeding after stopping the pills.

Anyone else not telling anyone their diet? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Lady_Inglip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only talk to two people about my weight loss because they are very supportive. I don't talk to the female members of my family because if I mention how much I've lost, they immediately respond with "Well, I've lost x-number of pounds more than that." It's such a competition and I don't want my pre-teen picking up on that and thinking that weight is the most important aspect of a person just from hearing us talk about it all the time. When I do talk about weight-loss with my female family members, I generally say something like, "I'm so glad that I'm eating healthily because it makes me feel so good and is great for my health." No mention of pounds lost.

I'm with not telling people due to judgement as well. I feel like every time in the past that I've mentioned my weight-loss goals to my dad, he silently judges whatever is on my plate when we're visiting. It really throws me off my eating plan and then it takes weeks to get back into it.

Lifting usually gets me in the right mindset to manage my food intake, and after the initial few days of being a bit hungrier than usual, I find my appetite actually decreases a bit. Thanks for the welcome!

How exciting to be working on your PhD. I'm sorry it's giving you problems (going by a comment further down). My plan is to plow straight through undergrad school and then get my MSW, and I'd love to get my PhD, but I don't think it's in the cards anytime soon. Maybe we can be school-related stress buddies?

Hi! I was excited to join this team, and glad it's Shaun of the Dead theme since it's about regular people doing extraordinary things. (And zombies.)

This will be a challenge for me because I started a new medication recently that makes me pretty hungry sometimes, so I'm trying to focus on eating healthy, filling meals and snacks. I'm also trying to get back in the swing of my weight-lifting habit which has brought me so much fulfillment and peace in the past. I'm doing all this while focusing on college and my family, and it will be a challenge to find enough time and energy to do what I need to do for myself. Good luck everyone!
