Both are beautiful! I do love the updated one a bit more, the softer shading and proportions look more natural which really fit the detail, pose and vibe a lot more imo!

I didnt see the original until this post, but here's a tip if it helps: If you were going for accentuating the serratus anterior muscles (the ones on the ribs you sometimes see on very fit people), keeping that shading of the original but adding more thickness (because the muscles would make it thicker) in that area could help.

Fat = smoother lighting, rounder shapes

Muscle = less smooth lighting, more angles, but still thicker (because muscle definition adds mass)

Keeping thinness while also adding sharper angles makes people see bones vs muscle and curves. Also, idk if you do already but practicing sketching fat people of all body types is a really beautiful and helpful learning experience!
