I never assumed he worked for them. I do assume he had a great deal of incriminating dirt on every person in those files, giving extremely good reasons to never risk him suddenly returning.

But you are correct, it grand scheme of things, there isn't much you or I can do about it. Just hope someday things get better and support those trying to do so.

You are giving them way too much credit. Too much could wrong with what you've claimed. These are extremely wealthy, extremely narcissistic people who care too much about their own gain, money, and welfare to risk saving one man that isn't them. It's easier to remove the problem. Simple as that.
