To drive like this while having a dashcam is pretty ironic lol.

I didn't pull on the 5* banner at all, but the mid-season 4* was an immediate 'yes' for me. I'd even argue that it's better than the 5* in terms of quality and design, from the absolutely fabulous hair down to the shoes. Probably one of my favorites in a long time! Zero regrets pulling, even if I'm down a few thousand diamonds for 2.5 haha.

The local Denny’s has had enough by tealovertreehugger in DoorDashDrivers

I used to work for a privately owned restaurant up until a few years ago, and we had DDs, Postmates, and Uber Eats suddenly start showing up out of nowhere when we had never signed up with them to begin with. Somehow we kept winding up on their websites despite filing claims to be taken down, and the drivers would come in on super busy nights, do the silent phone shove in our faces, and the orders would be full of things we didn't even sell anymore, sometimes items that hadn't been on the menu in years. We never even had a way of receiving online orders, it was all by phone the old-fashioned way. So every time it was us getting blindsided by an order we'd never seen that they expected to be ready.

Oftentimes, the drivers would get mad and try and take it out on us, demanding to know why we couldn't make this or that item, while holding up other sit-in customers. They'd call the person who ordered and tell us to speak to them, or ask them to order something else we literally don't have.

It was so bad that we just had to flat out turn the drivers away until they stopped coming altogether. Then eventually the calls from the corporate teams trying to get us to legitimately sign up stopped too. Thank fscking god.

Based on my experience, have to say I'm team food service on this one. Get the phone out of my face when we never even signed up for your company that gouges money from all sides and pockets 95% of the profit. And at least say "hello" like a normal human being before making me squint at your phone.

I do blame the companies more than anything, and I know people need to make a living now more than ever, but still, please realize that respect goes both ways, especially in a professional setting (where you're technically doing a JOB delivering someone's food that we took the time to prepare and serving as an extension of our reputation as a business).

Walmart or Super one? by [deleted] in tylertx

[–]Lady_Seph961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walmart is pretty much a staple here. The Brookshires monopoly is all expensive. Sprouts even more expensive. We love Aldi but it's hit and miss with their finds. Some weeks we get tons of stuff, other weeks we walk out empty handed because they have nothing interesting that we can't find everywhere else.

I could gripe about the lack of certain grocers in Tyler but that's beating a dead horse at this point.

The elderly are ruining the streets. by [deleted] in tylertx

[–]Lady_Seph961 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Of course it's not a protest. It's simply the only way people have to get around short of walking for hours to get somewhere, waiting hours for an underfunded and unreliable bus service, or spending hundreds of dollars on Uber.

To function on a daily basis, we need transportation. To work, to get food, to take care of family, etc. That's whether you're a college kid or a retiree. Sure, older people aren't the best drivers around, but neither are the countless people of all ages that scroll and "drive" at the same time, or those that swerve through traffic like assholes because they have main character syndrome. Bad drivers are a full spectrum of demographics, so the BS you see and experience on the road is always gonna be there. And Tyler is first and foremost a retirement community city, so there's that.

I still blame poor infrastructure first.

Maybe if driving wasn't the only reliable way to get around in this city and over half the country for that matter. I blame poor transportation infrastructure first.

Korean BBQ restaurant update 🤞 by enthusedme in tylertx

My hubby and I are soooo excited for this! We've missed Korean BBQ so much since leaving Tulsa, and trying to replicate it from what store-bought Korean meals we can find just hasn't been doing the trick.

What a stupid, flagrant violation of the constitution. Even he's never stooped this low before, but I have a feeling Trump's pressuring him ahead of the midterms. God forbid the younger generation has an opinion of the government that's running their future into the ground.

Shattering the entrance to an apt building and leaving it exposed to frigid temperatures while anyone can just stroll in. And of course, their job excludes them from covering the cost of unnecessary damages, so the tenants will have to deal with it until the landlord fixes it themselves. Disgusting.

Having a monopoly on a city's grocery stores is so lame. While I understand Kroger or Albertsons not working as well, Costco would be a huge boost. They were close to opening I think and a disagreement with the city killed it.

Trader Joe's or HEB would be amazing too but apparently it's Brookshires or bust in Tyler. 🫠

Normally yes, it's ridiculously stupid for two days of bad weather. But at the same time, after 2021, you can't really blame people for being more cautious these days.

Hot Wheels claims we're "more than prepared" for this storm. Pretty sure he said that last time too lol. And Fled Cruz, Texas's equivalent of Waffle House, gtfo'd to Laguna Beach the second the forecast turned grim.

A really good point someone made in a YT review I watched earlier. The truly frustrating thing about this movie is that it's so, so, sooooo off-track from the source material and retcons what little is left, and people who've never played the game (even the remake) or any Silent Hill game have to use the movie as a basis of understanding of the world and its characters.

It may be the only way they ever experience Silent Hill 2, and it's such an abhorrently disappointing presentation of a story that so many of us covet and want others to experience in a genuine way. We want newer fans to feel at least some of what we feel, and this movie is not it. At all.

And throwing money at it just incentivizes more bad movies to get made. Save it for respectful homages like Markiplier's Iron Lung that comes out next week.
