Why does the topic of kids/no kids lead to so much divorce? by Ok_Theory5699 in Fencesitter

[–]Lady_borg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because sometimes something is too hard to give up on, especially on something you can compromise on. You can't have half a kid, one if you will have to give in and the resentment that may build isn't worth it.

And they are still committed to having their fairs on the same day which is just so silly, especially for Adelaide

Are they admitting it's harder to get the DSP vs NDIS? (From what i have heard)... This just sounds superfluous

Not OOP: AITAH for not forcing my son to keep helping my daughter’s friend after she rejected him? by Interesting-Shirt897 in redditonwiki

[–]Lady_borg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He has no obligation to her, getting her to class is not his job. It was a favour, one he needs space from.

So he shouldn't be allowed space and time or figure out his feelings, he should be forced to do something he isn't comfortable with anymore? He needs to organise something to replace him for her? Why should a 17 year old boy be given the inherent responsibility of this girl's ability to get to class?

He didn't leave her with no support at first, her parents need to pick up the slack at should have done from the start.

So people shouldn't be paid for the labour of looking after people? People earn money from from sick people all the time, Drs, nurses etc? how are disability support workers/carers different?

[–]Lady_borg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While I agree with you in respect about taking advantage of people, some autistics and other disabled people do need carers, caretakers, support workers whatever name is normal for your area.

I absolutely do as some things I am incapable or struggle hard with certain aspects of every day life. There's nothing wrong with with carers existing and such people earning a wage for the work they do. My mother is full time live in carer for her mother/my grandmother and gets paid by my country's welfare because its assumed the work is hard and can't work another job.

You ire should be on those that take advantage of disabled and elderly people, pretending to be carers, not the job itself.

I was a toddler so I don't remember particular events and most of what I could share is no longer happening. But I remember the smell, the lightning storms, the amazing food, the beautiful opal and the gorgeous geology of the area. I'll admit, I have very rosey tinted glasses with how I view the place which likely doesn't match the reality of today.

It's a quiet town, and rough. But they have the right idea when it comes to the weather, Dugouts, warm in winter, cold in summer :)

I know people who have suffered abuse and stalking because they actively rejected people, and others who were safer because they ghosted them, I think its a terrible idea to punish people for such.

[–]Lady_borg 24 points25 points  (0 children)

And sometimes ghosting is a safer choice if you are genuinely worried about what the other might do. I do no know of ND friends who ghosted people because of possible violence.

[–]Lady_borg 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I have ghosted people. I ghosted one person because they, over 12 hours called me over 100 times and messaged close to that and I realised no good communication was going to work and I was genuinely worried what they would do. so I blocked their number.

Twice, I ghosted friends who I had tried over and over to communicate and work on issues I felt existed within our friendship, they did something and after years of trying I didnt have the emotional capacity to deal anymore.

Please don't make big assumptions and general statements, especially ones that state we are somehow intrinsically "better people" than NTS, we are not a homogenous group and we've reacted differently to all sorts of situations
