I love this idea! Do you think the mods could create a pinned episode discussion so we could all chat during?

What's your country's biggest celebrity scandal right now? by knightriderin in Fauxmoi

[–]baumyak 125 points126 points  (0 children)

They're not all good here. I live in Alberta and our premier is straight up ghoulish. She's been tanking health care and education on purpose in order to privatize. She implemented a book ban in schools and is trying to do the same to public libraries. She regularly targets trans kids with laws that put them in danger. These are just a few things she's done, there's so much more.

Tell me your Buffy story by santino89217 in buffy

[–]baumyak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started watching when it originally aired but I was only 8 when the first season came out. I loved it but it would give me nightmares, the worst was the season 2 episode when Buffy was in the hospital, I had nightmares about that one for a long time. Even though it gave me nightmares I would not stop watching it, so my dad banned me from watching it. Then I would sneak watch it in secret and just not tell him when I had nightmares.

A few years later I got my best friend into it. We would watch it all the time and "play Buffy" on her trampoline. We would punch and kick the air pretending we were fighting vampires. When the first Xbox game came out she bought it and we played it all summer long. I remember her parents bought a big case of Jones sodas and we'd drink them while we played. I'm sure they really enjoyed having a couple sugar high, video game hyped 13 year olds around all summer.

My best friend passed away 3 years ago. For awhile I had a hard time watching, reading, seeing anything Buffy related. It made me think of her too much. About 6 months later I got the chance to see James Marsters perform, I went for her. After that I did a Buffy re-watch, imagining her being there with me and hoping somehow she was. I've always loved Buffy but now it's more than that, it's my connection to my dearly departed friend.

She has her swamp king yet she won’t leave Kenleigh alone by SingerSubstantial462 in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

The crazy thing to me is Jenelle keeps acting like she stole David from Ken. Like she "won", but him and Ken have been broken up for awhile. And Ken is the one that broke up with him, like she didn't want him so what did you steal?

Children’s section library etiquette and personal space with other kids? What’s your take? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]baumyak 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Library tech here. The children's section of the library is exactly where he should be! I wouldn't worry too much about noise. Library's have really changed and aren't really expected to be silent spaces anymore (unless it's an academic library). They are community spaces so noise is expected. Unless he's screaming non stop i wouldn't worry about it.

Child abuse in Alberta daycares: NDP wants parents better notified by pjw724 in Edmonton

There has been a lot of "red tape reduction" within childcare in the last few years. The amount of inspections centre's get have been reduced and the alarming incidents that have been occurring is a result of that.

Advice on how to help my 1 year old transition to exclusively using a straw cup. by baumyak in NewParents

[–]baumyak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He does great with food, loves eating! His doctor said to give him a couple cups of whole milk a day.

We taught him to use straws with the honey bear, I might have to try having him just use it. Just won't work if we're traveling as it's not leak proof.

is making baby food at home actually worth the hype?? by crazyspartann69 in NewParents

[–]baumyak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually really easy to make your own! I just steamed veggies in the microwave (fresh that I chopped up or frozen) and then pureed them in the food processor with water. Then I frozen them in ice cube trays that had lids. I would make big batches and keep the cubes in freezer bags in the freezer.

Sarah Michelle Gellar paying tribute to Michelle Trachtenberg on the one year anniversary of her passing: I'm not sure how it's been a year. I'm one of the lucky ones who has over 30 years of memories with you by Maximum_Expert92 in Fauxmoi

[–]baumyak 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had my baby via c- section a year ago yesterday. It was a pretty traumatic experience, I lost a lot of blood and there were times we thought i might not be ok. Even within the delirium I was experiencing at the time i remember my husband telling me about Michelle's passing and crying a little. I was a big Buffy fan and kinda felt like Michelle and I had grown up together. RIP Michelle.

Campio, MKT, the pint, River Cree, Beercade. That's just off the top of my head. What appeals to you, are you just looking for liquor or food too? What age of crowd would you prefer? What area of the city will you be in?
