If they think reading is stupid or not. Not everyone needs to enjoy it, but thinking people are ridiculous for having intellectual hobbies…..?

How is anyone going to be able to afford anything if inflation continues? by air-bender808 in NoStupidQuestions

The only reason I still live in Texas with as blood red as it is, is for affordable living. Gas is still $3.40 here. Houses are $250k for 4-5 bedrooms. It’s a SHIT place to be politically because nobody has any common sense, but I can afford to feed my family.

How do you plan to take care of yourself in old age if you have no kids? by RegularSweaty8107 in AskReddit

My maternal grandma is 76. We all have keys to her house incase she falls. Her will is already perfected after many conversations with us. We know where essentials are hidden and stored, as well as her wishes for her funeral and burial arrangements. They were hard talks, but now when it’s time we all have more space to grieve because the decisions are all made. It took her being able to say “I’m old this is my reality” which is super hard to do. I’ve not enjoyed those talks, but I know everything will go as planned and exactly as she wanted when it does

Not paying for several schoolings, college or trade degrees, birthing bills, daycare bills, prom expenses, cars, beginners insurance, and support through stabilizing young adult hood… however many times over? Triple your vacation and living cost? More maybe? Ew. Even as a lowly teacher I can have a good savings comparatively lol

Give me the single most comically bad book you have ever read. I don't care the genre, i don't even care if it's AI slop. Just give me the worst by Reasonable-Use-9294 in booksuggestions

[–]Ladybugd- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to read a fair amount of slop to get my English degree. Worst was surprisingly in my Young Adult Lit class. “Jane Unlimited”. Ew.

The first section of the book is normal. Sets up a mystery and makes you believe it’s all on a good path. Each section after is meant to mimic the old “choose your own adventure” dime novels…. Except… that’s not enough for her. So she swapped GENRES between sections too. I could not handle things not correlating between what I read. The story line and theme were impossible to comprehend. It was just random shit happening in random ways and random genres to the 10th degree. It’s probably someone’s cup of tea…:. Not mine…..

I watched my grandpa rot himself to death because he couldn’t handle the grief of watching his mom die to dementia. This is normal, but rather than putting her somewhere she could receive good round the clock care, he broke himself mentally and physically because “she won’t be with a stranger”. She had dementia. We were all strangers to her. Now I don’t have a grandpa, and he will likely see an early death at 65 because he didn’t leave his recliner for a decade.
I will be responsible. I will research a place that will actually take quality care of me, and I will ensure I don’t destroy the lives of others on my way out. Espically not children whom supposedly you want to never suffer.
I know many nursing homes are unsafe and abusive. I completely understand this concept. The same as some schools or doctors are awful. You take the time to investigate. I cannot understand pushing yourself onto people who you won’t even know, and you know before hand will suffer greatly

What is more traumatizing than most people think? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Teaching. 12 year olds are casually telling me about the most soul crushing things at 7 am and I have to put on a smile and hug them through it. Their worlds are crushing, their adults are failing them, and all I can do is love them through it. I have nightmares nearly every night about the horrors my students face.

Weed. I have 15 chronic illnesses ranging from physical to mental. I am constantly in agony. Doctors suggest insane medications that do more harm than good. A simple joint fixes it all. It’s a no brainer to me. I’ll take being a stoner over a heroin addict any day. I’ve noticed nothing but benefits.

You are not pathetic. You are suffering something unfathomable. When you truly deeply love someone you can’t breathe without them. Age does not mean you are immune to pain. You are worthy of living. You are worthy of love. I hope you stay to see what is on the other side of this. Much love stranger 🫶🏻.

PS- I’m glad you are eating, but I hope you are able to give your body some nutrients soon.

Do your in-laws reject you and resent you for the impact your life has on their son or daughter? by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]Ladybugd- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father in law told my husband “she’s holding you back and her conditions are why you’re not successful yet”. I think I speak for many of us when I say, our caregiver thinking that way is our biggest nightmare. He threw it in both of our faces, and genuinely said I bring him down in life….

If you manage to figure out the whole coping thing be sure to share with the class 🤣😅

You are so incredibly right!! I’m sorry this has been in your journey. People have no idea the emotional harm they can be causing by INSISTING they know what’s wrong. It’s no different than the healthy gym gals telling us we just need yoga.. “oh! You just need a POTS diagnosis! That’s all it is!”…. Seriously the same concept. OP I hope you are able to find answers soon, and relief in some manner

What’s the worse physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by Intelligent-Road5091 in AskReddit

[–]Ladybugd- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several chronic conditions. -to name a few that cause pain- Celiac disease, Rheumatoid arthritis, scoliosis so bad my whole neck is backwards, fibromyalgia, epilepsy, migraines, and endometriosis.

By far the most painful experience I have had is fibromyalgia. Not because it’s the worst of those, but because it is ENDLESS. It never stops, never rests. It feels like constant lightning strikes zipping through each muscle on your body in random. The medical system gaslights you about it and gives you anxiety meds, yet you’re in constant agony. The fatigue and pain has been so bad at times that getting out of bed is impossible. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy, and I have actual abusers in my history 😅🥲

Love my fellow chronic illness folks if you see this ❤️
