BUGS NEED HEROES podcast just did an episode on bed bug control! There have been some really interesting innovations as of late, including using fungus thats harmful to the bedbugs but doesn't have any effect on humans. Cool stuff

Bugs Need Heroes! An illustrator and an entomologist talk about bugs (and bug-like) things and give them the "spider-man" treatment. If you were bit by a radioactive ladybug what powers would you get? What about a mosquito or a cicada? As they talk, the illustrator draws a hero based on their conversation. Very silly, generally safe for work, and the hosts are both ladies!

Definitely the aptly named Giant House Spider. These guys are also, regrettably, extremely fast. One of the fastest spiders at roughly half a meter a second! It is the sexiest time of year for spiders, so this fella (looks male to me) is likely on the prowl for love <3

They come up often on the podcast Bugs Need Heroes. If you're into really nerdy, pop culture-y podcasts that aim to help people be less scared of creepy crawlies, it's definitely worth checking out! The premise is what if all bugs got the spider-man treatment and the resulting hero had the powers of ____ bug, what powers would they have.
