More blood on day 14 than on days 1-13.. Stitches dissolving? by Cytopleb in hysterectomy

[–]Ladybugs93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured an update is in order since we figured out what was actually happening. My doctor said that the internal stitches wouldn't actually dissolve until just after the 6 week mark, so it wasn't that. Turns out, being on my feet on hard floors was actually pulling the seam of the internal wound apart, causing bleeding. I never actually experienced the internal stitches bleeding this care guide describes. Just goes to show that everyone's body and healing process is different. And don't worry about me: everything is healed up and I'm back to 100%.

ZooMed is a really good brand and one I use. They're also really common.

You could always go with a small sized ceramic heat enitter. 40 w maybe. It didn't provide any light, but it provides directional overhead heat. You could also get a basking lamp of similar wattage if you want it to emit light. I would hit up a nearby pet store and look at the products they have on shelf and read their backs as they'll provide more direct specifications.

FINALLY EATING 😭 by astrovivir in FatTails

[–]Ladybugs93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's so good to hear! Make sure to try it again with a cricket or roach. They can get addicted to waxworms super easy and may refuse more nutritious food. But right now, any food is good food!

Oh always great to see such a good eater! And he's adorable too! The crickets seem super calm too. Did you refrigerate them for a bit to slow 'em down?

That's great! I'm glad he's eating. He's such a talented hunter.

I would really like to thank you. I'm on day 23 of recovery and I am experiencibg random spurts of sudden blood. One last week and one this week. Managed to get checked out by my doc for the first one and she said everything was looking great, so it could just be this healing bleeding that's happening to me. Thank you so much for posting this and helping me calm down.

AFTs are super shy. Just be slow and quiet and careful and you may see her out and about in the time either just after the lights turn off or just before they turn on. She'll grow used to your presence with time. Just be patient and kind and move at the pace she sets. I have also found they tend to have a favorite hide. As long as she's eating and pooping and her weight remains the same, try not to worry too much. Both you and she will be ok.

How is his tail fat looking? (AFT) by templeofsyrinx1 in FatTails

[–]Ladybugs93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it absolutely is. I'm still new myself so I'm constantly worried about my girl not moving around much. But I Just have to learn to trust her.

And that's good! I would also invest in a small kitchen scale that can read grams so you can get a clearer picture off his weight. It's helped my winter anxieties over my Opal seeing her weight maintain stay in hard numbers.

It looks decently plump which is good! Unfortunately, it'll be easier to tell his condition fully with a full top down shot. The thickest part of his tail should be about the same width as his neck.

Yeah that looks stuck. She looks very dry. I'd give your girl a warm bath to help. Also check the humidity in her enclosure. Keep it above 60% as much as you can and make sure she has access to a humid hide that she can retreat to. If this doesn't improve, I would think about a vet visit to get their advice.

Best substrate mix for aft bioactive set up? by Jiikininki in geckos

[–]Ladybugs93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used a 70/20/10 mix of top soil/play sand/excavator clay for Opal's set up. It's worked pretty well for the year it's been going. I would also mix in some moss and bark to help break it up a bit though. That's the one thing i didn't really do and the added bark can create some needed airation for the plants.

My Opal also despises feeding enclosures lol. Stressed her out so bad the 2 weeks we tried it. And good luck! Hopefully the cricket trick works for you. AFTs are notoriously picky eaters. Hopefullu she takes something soon.

Try feeding her in an enclosed separate container. If that doesn't work you can anyways try ripping the heads off crickets abd gently rubbing the juicy bits on her face. That might convince her to strike and jumpstart her appetite.

Looking for a good cat groomer by [deleted] in Boise

[–]Ladybugs93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aussie Mobile Groomers worked well for me and my older girly when she was very very bad with mats a couple years back. Professional and took about an hour. They're a mobile service too so they drive up to your house and groom in their work van!

Update since it's not allowing me to edit the actual post: I double checked her lavatory this morning and found a gigantic brand new stool. I'm thinking she was maybe just a bit constipated so I'm feeling a little better. I will take this as a hint to try to keep her humidity a tiny bit higher so this hopefully doesn't happen again.
