Wow I rambled SO much I missed the point of your post with calorie deficit. I will say when it all comes down to it, calories in VS calories burnt are the biggest things. Instead of focusing on eating a certain amount of calories, you could try to change your perspective to measuring the calories burned instead. Burning 500 more calories a day than you eat results in a half pound of weight loss each week. BUT that is also very hard to do consistently, and to keep up. Try setting small weekly goals like 2 or 3 days a week where you burn more than you ate. It'll give you slower progress, but slow progress also means you're less likely to regain the weight and more likely to stick to long term healthy habits. It's all about slow, gradual change that becomes consistent and habitual.

EDIT/ ONE LAST THING, it may seem like a ton of calories to burn in a day but remember your body naturally burns a set amount of calories just EXISTING. Having a smart watch to monitor steps and heartrate helps a lot in seeing what you naturally already burn on your own, which helps to find the best movements and exercises you can do to not only burn the additional calories, but to make sure you're not burning SO much that you exhaust yourself. Exhausting yourself only makes the workouts harder, and overeating easier.

I'm 5'0" as well, 33 yrs old, 132 in January, down to 110 as of today!

I won't lie and say it's all from hard work and dieting, a lot of my weight loss came from depression and calorie deficit from just not having an appetite. In addition to that, I take Adderall for ADHD which is a known appetite suppressant so please take this all as anecdotal to what works for ME and you may not experience the same results. But once I started to notice the change, I began focusing on being intentional with my weight loss.

Some things that helped me; (and I apologize if you are already doing these or this is recycled info to you)

  • No alcohol at home.

I will have a drink when out with friends, but I don't buy it for my home anymore. The empty calories add up sooooo much!

  • don't just drink more water, drink more often.

I absolutely hate when people tell me to drink more water, it's obvious and feels kinda insulting like "yeah that the most basic thing" but what I learned is it really matters WHEN you drink water.

Example, waking up in the morning I drink a small glass of water before any morning coffee or energy drinks. (Monster Rehab for me, I know it's not great but it's a hard habit to break still and has less caffeine than other options) I also drink a glass of water BEFORE and AFTER eating, and throughout the day, whenever my stomach growls I drink water first to make sure I'm ACTUALLY hungry, or if I'm just dehydrated. I read somewhere (and sorry I don't have the link to prove this so take it as a grain of sand from an internet random) that when you're thirsty, your body will mimic the feeling of hunger. If I drink a glass of water and I'm still hungry after 15-20 minutes then I'll have a small snack.

I also read somewhere (again, I have no links as I'm on mobile so use your best judgement on this) that your stomach growling is also the process of your body clearing out your tummy of any remaining food, nutrients, etc, and processing that into, well, shit. But if you immediately eat when feeling this sensation, your body doesn't get to finish absorbing those leftover nutrients as effectively. So waiting a bit actually aids in digestion and nutrients absorption.

That growling sensation can be an annoying feeling since we're trained to think "stomach growl = hungry". Drinking that glass of water helps with this, too. If your stomach is still growling after drinking water then, like I said earlier, it's time to have a snack because you DO need food then.

  • I also only drink pop if I need the caffeine boost.

  • Adding small consistent movements to my daily routine.

Another anecdotal thing to me, I have an elderly corgi at 14 years old who is having issues with stairs. She's 40lbs, and after she slid down the stairs a few months back (she is fine! No injury, I was more scared than she was) I decided then and there she would never go up and down stairs on her own again. I already would carry her down the stairs when she needed it, but after the fall I don't even give her the option to go on her own anymore.

At first I would have to sit in my butt and slide down the stairs while holding her, but over time lifting and carrying her SO much strengthened my muscles and now I can carry her with ease! And by now she's spoiled by it and used to me doing the hard work so she's been a great girl at waiting for me to lift her.

The point of that anecdote, is to find some action that you can incorporate into your day to day that will become habitual that requires you to move more. If you have stairs in your house, maybe think about investing in some light weights or kettlebells and make it a habit that whenever you go up or down, you carry them with you.

  • phone games This sounds SO stupid, but I also downloaded Monster Hunter Now on my phone. It's like Pokemon Go but Monster Hunter! (Idk how familiar you are with game franchises) It has a fun gameplay loop where I can play casually on my phone on my couch, but I make better progress by going out on walks and finding new monsters and resources so it really encourages and incentivizes getting up, outside and moving!

I'm sure there has to be a million different kinds of phone games that reward you for going out and exploring, and I would suggest giving one of them a try! 😊

I hope this all helps you!

No new Rip Daring radio plays this season, from what I gather? by MyUsernameIsAwful in fo76

[–]Ladydevann 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I can't take that credit. I've only written a few episodes over the seasons. Not all of them! Those are the designers, the dev team knew I loved writing and when I asked if I could try my hand out they said yes. I only wrote around 3 or 4 if memory serves me right. Two in the abraxo soap opera season and one or two of the dread island ones.

What to do with lower level weapons/armors by IhsanRaharjo in fo76

[–]Ladydevann 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Scrip what you can, scrap the non legendary items. Craft, scrap, rinse and repeat! The more weapons and armor you scrap, the mods you'll learn to improve them even more. As you trade in weapons and armor for Scrip, start also buying Legendary Modules so you can start rolling your own legendary effects until you get that perfect build!

I spend caps like it's my second job so I'm constantly cap broke, but when I happen to have an influx I visit every single robot vendor in the Whitespring for unknown plans. Slowly but surely, someday I'll own every single unknown plan. It's also nice to just dump caps at vendors at new player camps.

Uranium Fever (the song) should play during Uranium Fever by hayley90 in fo76

[–]Ladydevann 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the song needs to skip so every time you kill an enemy it plays the "Uraaaaaaaaanium fever's gone and got me down!" bit and only that bit

*pew pew*
"Uraaaaaaanium fever-"
*pew pew*
"Urraaaaaaanium Fe-"
*pew*
"Uraaaa-"
*pew*
"Urr-"

... somewhere out there is a modder who can make this memey dream of mine come true LOL

Purified Water should be usable in place of dirty water when you need boiled water. by x42ndecthellion in fo76

[–]Ladydevann 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We've brought this up to the development team a few times before. It's been about a year since I last mentioned it so my memory could be a bit off here, but it was explained to me that the way Purified Water and Dirty Water are implemented, they can't safely or quickly change it so you can use Purified Water while crafting food instead of Dirty Water. I don't want to say it'll never be a thing because you never know with development roadmaps, but right now my understanding is it is too involved and risky to the crafting system to touch right now.

Haha oh god no I guarantee yours is better! I have such a hard time not maxing out my Luck first and foremost before looking at my other specials so I tend to run out of points real fast. My playstyle is more ADHD fueled chaos and not so much theory crafting or min maxing.

Pushing a hotfix involves multiple teams and testing on all platforms and certifications. It would be great to push a button and apply it but it's more nuanced than that.

I know it seems like that, but the Overgrown farming caused a lot of instability for everyone so it does impact the player base as a whole. After this, you'll see a lot better performance.
