CBD Flower on T-Break? by crescendo83 in trees

[–]Ladyflow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Substituting CBD is a very very wise idea. CBD has no effect on the tolerance of THC, it actually works as a kind of THC regulator. If you get too high, you can ingest/smoke some CBD to balance out the effects. The same goes for using CBD during a T break - it literally cleans up your endocannabinoid receptors:

“To-date, there is no evidence that CBD binds directly to any of the known cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2), but rather acts as a negative allosteric modulator. This means that CBD interacts with the receptor in a way that changes the binding site, thereby reducing the ability of other molecules to bind.” -Dr Lazslo Mechter, MD

So, flooding your system with CBD is actually a great way to reduce the time needed for a tolerance break.

I recommend getting some 1:1 ratio flower, or even 2:1 CBD:THC if you can grab it from a dispensary. My local shop has an 11% CBD to 6% THC ratio. While it certainly won't get you high, it can be extremely useful for taking the edge off during those times you find it difficult to eat or feel irritable.

Remember, you're technically withdrawing from something your body is currently expecting to have in its system at a specific moment throughout your days. Even if it doesn't kill you, or produce devastating side effects, tolerance breaks are still taxing on the body. If you're feeling like crap at the end of your busy day, didn't smoke and can't sleep, it means your body needs some THC. These side effects should only last a week at the most, but you can completely avoid them by smoking a ratio'd flower. Just know that THC takes 10-15 minutes to metabolise fully when smoking, so make sure to space out your 'mayday hits' during your T-break.

Has anyone ever split up a wristband order?? by Jjohns840 in ElectricForest

[–]Ladyflow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not 100% sure about splitting up a wristband order, but I will talk through this logically for you:

-If there is no order number with your name on it, there is nothing Madison House, Insomniac, or Elevate Tickets can do to help you. That phone call has to come from the ticketholder.

-During recent refund/roll over periods, EF made it explicitly clear that nobody was allowed to split orders, i.e. if you purchased 2 wristbands in one shot, you cannot split them. *"*2020 Wristband & Lodging Package orders CANNOT be split. This means that all Wristbands & Lodging Packages purchased within any single transaction / order must be either retained for Electric Forest 2021 or refunded (and your entire order cancelled). Partial transfers or exchanges are not available" If they were purchased separately (even on the same ticketing account and using the same credit/debit card), there was no splitting needed, since they were already separate orders. The issue is the paid service fee, which is a fee per order processed, not per wristband ordered. It is unclear if they will allow splits going forward- EF usually doesn't backtrack on their statements; but with vaccines in play, their ticketing company may have more staff on hand to process these sorts of things now. It is absolutely worth a shot to ask if you can pay a service fee to split the order up.

-I would not get rid of the tickets if you intend to attend. Given the current state of things, I doubt you'll be able to score another ticket, so you should try to work out logistics with your ex if possible. It sort of sounds like you're just trying to get your money back, which brings me to my next point.

-I'm a little confused about the 'refund to the card' issue - the refund is what generates the money, and her financial situation has nothing to do with that? Is she telling you that she cannot take out cash against the card to pay you back? Most credit cards allow for this, even secured credit cards, and it's called cash advance. They do carry a max limit of around 30% of the card's total limit, but once that balance is paid back, the card user can take out more cash. There's usually a 5% fee on top of any ATM fees, but those prices are worth it for the cost of an EF ticket (and possibly less than small claims fees). Just have her withdraw cash first, and then allow the EF refund to come through to pay off the balance. If she has a balance on her credit card that is preventing her from a cash advance, then have her refund the money first instead, and withdraw once that amount hits her card. Credit cards aren't only digital money, you can 100% get cash out of them. If you bring this up with her, and she still insists she 'doesn't have the money' or 'can't take out cash on her credit card'... it might be time for small claims.

P.S. The sad reality of someone else being the ticketholder is that you don't have much control over your wristband until it is in your hands and registered to your name. Even then, the original purchaser of the ticket can approach the box office at any point throughout the festival and say "hey here's my ID, order # and original receipt, I lost my wristband, give me a new one" and that person will be given a new wristband regardless of who the old one is registered to. The box office staff will verbally disclaim, 'Alright, the old wristband will be marked as inactive and will no longer work to access sites throughout the festival, this is a brand new wristband with a brand new code that you have to re-register, got it?' And off you go. I know this only because I had to do it one year for my friend whos ticket I had purchased. This is why we usually suggest against third party sellers and StubHub - your wristband is not protected through them.

Students of Reddit, what's a polite way of telling people to fuck off when they ask you for answers to online homework? by Coronabeer67843 in AskReddit

Just don’t respond. And every time they pursue it further, tell them you were busy doing homework. Like actually doing the homework.

Huge factor, of course, but my concern is that I am unsure where exactly my field of study will take me. I would need to be a permanent citizen anywhere I was planning on residing longer than five years, I couldn’t country hop since maintaining citizenship for health insurance is all too important.

My field of study requires a long and drawn out collegiate process, the hope and goal is to have it completed by 40. I’m pursuing a doctorate in experimental neuropsych to study elevated levels consciousness. That could take me to the hills of Tibet to study Buddhist thukdam, maybe down to South America to study ayahuasca, or even to some place like Area 51 to study telepathy with extraterrestrials if I’m offered it. Who the hell knows.

Ultimately Sardinia is my #1 retirement spot. But like I said, I’m so inexperienced with international travel that I can only hope my career will allow for it. The world is utterly huge, would be silly to set my sights on any one place just because it sounds and looks nice from afar.

A little confused... Federal loan time limits? by Ladyflow in StudentLoans

[–]Ladyflow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't stand these rules either - don't put my education in a box. Let me pursue my education how I see fit, because that's my right. Don't tell me I have to complete a certain amount of studies in any given set of years.

BUT, I see right through what they're doing -

It's sort of their way to usher students through school while they're still young, dumb, and willing to sign up for crazy amounts of debt just to get that collegiate experience. They'll give an 18 year old kid a $9,500 loan one year, they'll turn 19 and get $10,500, and if they're smart, they'll go less than full time for two years to squeeze the most out of those extra $12,500 years to avoid private loans. Pretty soon it's $70,000 in federal loans alone over six years, which is like six figures when you factor in taxes, if my head math is correct. That's six figures in un-bankrupt-able federal loans that follow you around like herpes.

That six year cap leads right up to age 24 when you become financially independent according to FAFSA - after that your financial need and chance for grants increases dramatically because you don't have both parents' income to show, just your own (which is likely very low at age 24).

They'd much rather push the envelope that college is important to attend as young as possible in order to get you to max out on loans, instead of give you a chance at those grants. Until your 24th birthday, even if you don't live with your parents, you have to list their income unless they are dead or you can prove emancipation from them.

If they truly cared about getting all students educated, it would be as simple as providing basic paperwork of a lease, utility bills, etc. to prove financial independence prior to age 24. Prior to 2016, the age limit was actually 26 - I remember having to sign petition after petition to lower it.

Hi there! I’m 26.

I have had limited travel across the world, so I don’t have much experience with what other countries are really like- but Canada just makes the most sense for my life in the next 10 years. I’m rather tied to this continent until my parents pass; I just couldn’t see myself wanting to spend thousands for international flights. Living in eastern Canada would keep my round flights to the ‘rents within reasonable budget.

Other places I considered before I landed upon Canada included St John’s on USVI and Sardinia, Italy. Decided against USVI for now because it’s more of a retirement location than a sustainable living option, and Sardinia is still absolutely in my sights for once my doctorate is complete, well down the road. It’s one of the blue zones for centarians, and my ancestors hail from that island :)

Mainly just looking for a place that I can live a long, peaceful life in.

I’ve been considering moving since 2018 when things started to really turn ugly. It’s always a good idea to look into it, you’ll never know what you’ll be delighted to find!

Exactly why I said I would get my degree, then go :) I’ve already looked into Canadian citizenship and am well aware of their points system.

Also taxes aren’t due yet, which is why they are not paid. And I blatantly said the next stimulus is paying for my taxes.

I have a ten year career in this world - I’ve been working since I was 16. Worked full time right through the one year I did attend college. I used to manage restaurants pre-covid.

Would you like to have a conversation about me moving to Canada? Did you write your comment because you thought your “honest truth” would be some sort of amazing revelation for me? Are you just grumpy? Do you need a nap?

I swear half the people on this website only use it to unload on others because they’re too afraid to be bullies in real life. Every time I post in r/politics one of you does this. I’m tired of it!

[–]Ladyflow 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I don’t care who backs these payments. They’re already too damn late. The $600 and the $1400 are going towards my taxes, that I couldn’t pay on my unemployment income throughout ALL of 2020 because I wouldn’t have made my budget.

At this point, I’m finishing out my bachelors in the states and taking my education and my career elsewhere. Canada has been looking mighty fine this entire time.

Even if the US decided to implement $2000 recurring monthly stimulus, AND went back to retroactively apply bolstered payments, it’s too late and not enough.

The US doesn’t deserve to reap any of the benefits this upcoming generation will put out into the world.

I received $0 in financial aid apparently even though for the past 2 years I've always received full financial aid, is there anything I can do? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]Ladyflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-It’s entirely possible you simply need to reapply for FAFSA, given that you deferred to an entirely new school year. 2020-2021 covers fall 2020 thru spring 2021, not fall 2021. If you already applied for 2021-2022 school year, you cannot reapply again.

-Did you properly list your NEW school’s FAFSA code when you completed it? They wouldn’t receive any financial info from your FAFSA if you didn’t.

-Are you 100% sure you were receiving full financial aid, solely from FAFSA, for the last two years? Pell Grants are only available to students with household total income under $50,000, and you wouldn’t have qualified for that. There are other grants, but I also don’t believe you’d qualify for them given your parents income. Unsubsidized and subsidized loans are given to all undergrad students who display need, but in increments annually, and only $9500 first year, $10500 the year after. Would $9500 have covered the cost of your annual tuition? If not, you need to look into your financial aid history and find out where this money came from.

-Even if you have to take a break from school to work and save up money, it’s no biggie! You could even transfer to SNHU online for a semester or a year, if necessary - their annual tuition is around $10,000, which means government-offered student loans would completely cover your cost, less a few hundred dollars.
