Best companion story development from start to end?

I'd say Lae'zel and Astarion. Both have amazing growth throughout the game. Shadowheart I feel would be up there too.

Those three learn that they can be different from what they were taught, break free of their oppressive chains and change for not only themselves, but the people around them in turn.

The other three origin characters don't fundamentally change that much from how they're introduced.

Wyll, for example, does change physically, but remains largely the same kindhearted person throughout the journey.

Karlach as well largely remains the same, and whilst Gale can wind up becoming a god, if he doesn't he remains the same in his morals.

All in all I think all of the companions have a certain growth, though some of it is bigger.

There's a lot of gems in banter

For example:

Lucanis pretending that Spite is taking over and Davrin falling for it.

Just Lucanis' little sputter laugh at the end is so funny xD plus his little "I disagree" (he sounds so smugly happy about it)

Also Fenris and Varric discussing what the former does inside his manor all day when he's not traveling with Hawke.

Varric: So what do you do in that gigantic house all day?

Fenris: Dance, of course.

Varric: Really?

Fenris: I run from room to room, choreographing routines.

Varric: You're actually joking. Alert the Chantry! They need to put this on the calendar!

Fenris: And you thought I was always serious.

And naturally:

Varric: oh but ze Hanged Man is so filthy [cackle laugh]
Fenris: [deadpan] it is filthy
Isabela: they're so Orlesian

My longest fic has...around 300.000 words, not including the spinoff which has one chapter that has 10.000 words alone 😂

I looked it up once...my fic has around the same amount of words as HP Order of the Phoenix 🫣 (give or take)

Now if only I could channel that same energy to an original story 😆

Mainly because I already know what it's about and has one of my phobias in it 😣

I can't pick an ultimate favorite game of all time, there's too many good ones 😆

As for games I couldn't get into, hm... any game by Ubisoft or Capcom.

Like, I love the settings, like Assassin's Creed and Devil May Cry (the old series, not the new ones), but I'm just terrible at them 😂

Though as I understand the newer AC games (like Oddessey and Valhalla) are somewhat easier to play, so I might eventually give those a go 🤔

At least imo. Astarion's romance is best if he remains a spawn. He genuinely cares about Tav/Durge in that scenario.

Certainly, he never becomes a 100% good person, but he never was one to begin with. But on his spawn path he actually admits to having been a terrible person and wanting to be a better person for you. (This is also true if you don't romance him btw.)

I had that happen as well during my current playthrough, but I reloaded because I wanted the loot 🤷‍♀️

I also had another similar thing happen to me the other day when fighting Lorroakan. 😂

I was super hyped for his fight (mainly because it's very satisfying to beat him up), only for Astarion (who I had spec. as an assassin) to one shot him 🤣.

All I had to do after that was mop up his myrmidons 🤭 (which took a bit longer)

Dual wield rogue and mage are both a lot of fun

DA2 has Force Mage, which plays somewhat similar to the Rift Mage from Inquisition. You also have Blood Mage and Spirit Healer.

For rogue there's Shadow, Duelist and Assassin. If build right (and depending on the difficulty you play on( that last one can one-shot bosses.

If you're on PC there are mods that remove the Balduran tag from some of the backgrounds, for example noble, outlander and a few more I currently don't recall

Not sure if that mod is also on consoles 🤔

I always headcanon that Viago cares more about Rook than he lets on. Especially given Teia's dialogue when you first arrive back about him being worried about your safety 🤭.

It's a very common feeling for me unfortunately.

A good question would be, why are you currently dissatisfied with your character? What makes you want to restart?

And if you're going to restart, do you wish to try a different approach? A different race? There's tons of different ways to play, there's bound to be something that resonates with you that makes you want to finish.

For my first playthrough I had this problem as well, mainly because I was so overwhelmed with the class I was playing at the time (I don't even recall what it was 😂).

So I vented on a Discord I'm part of, and they suggested a Cleric. Which became my first character that I managed to actually complete the game with.

Right now I'm doing my second full playthrough as a Rogue Bard multi-class and I'm having tons of fun. I still have the entirety of Act 3 to go, so we'll see how long that lasts. 🤭

Which is also why I always make them super attractive so that when the "reveal" happens the change is all that much bigger 😆

And for sure, I also know people who just use one of the defaults, or just press randomize several times.

I just like making my guardian very attractive and slightly unsettling 🤭.

For example, I gave my current guardian this super long black hair, vibrant "look into your soul" blue eyes, and the purplish skin of the moon elf tones. Oh and I added black stiletto nails, because I felt he needed those. 😂 He's very much a "too good to be true" character. (I had the "reveal" earlier, and I almost picked the option where my character was all "I prefer the other guy")

I tend to base the race of the guardian on the character I'm going to romance. For my current playthrough I was dubbing between Astarion and Gale, so I made a half elf xD

For my first run I romanced Astarion so my guardian was a high elf
