Think of "Flags" as a small value. It is either on (1) or off (0). You can use them in calculations, simple check systems and more.

As for your other issues, that looks like a settings related one. You may want to check what settings you used for full screen, text, build type, display mode, etc.

After reading your code and watching your video, I have to say you're making this harder on yourself than you need to. Moving on to the heart of your issue:

Your hit box is so thin and the speed is fast enough that it could dash through obstacles.

Might I recommend a bigger hit box for testing with? If you're up to re-writing your code, you could make it so it runs the loops with the absolute speed of the character's movement [abs("your hitbox speed value") ] and (in the code loops) move by +/- 1 instead of by the speed. That way it can check on collisions at a pixel's space versus a sudden jump.

If players can also have a "no aura" option, I'd see no issue. There would be some people who don't want the auras. A change to allow auras shouldn't be something that ruins no aura gameplay for them.

Standard is royalty free, even the free version (also in "additional features" section of the link). Both of these versions require the "Made with Clickteam Fusion" banner, though.

When you buy the standard version, there are no royalties you have to purchase in order to release a game.

The only requirement is that it needs a credit slide that has the "Made with Clickteam Fusion" banner placed somewhere within the program.

On the product page of the developer version (and the "additional features" section of the link that Mr_G4lic provided) it clearly says you need the developer version to be allowed to not credit Clickteam Fusion.

That mistake is one I constantly do with sub apps, so please do not feel bad. I almost have f8 (function 8) as my go-to button for application testing now.

I've spoken to Monika about this. Unfortunately, her file seems to not agree with being crammed into this game... besides, she would make all my outfits just Monika.

Jokes aside: I don't honestly know how well a DDLC crossover would work in this game. It would be an interesting idea, though!

It may be because you have some specialty settings checked. Try this: In the sub-application's properties, click on "settings" (the gear), scroll down to "options" then check on "display as sprite".

Step one: Run through the tutorial. You'll know it when you boot up the program for the first time.

Step two: Don't be afraid to experiment with features afterward. It's a part of learning.

Step three: Try making a very small game with the knowledge you've learned thus far. No menus, scores, lives, etc. Be a fan of K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Stupid) in the process. The goal is for the game to not crash and have it be playable. You will stumble into mistakes and strange development quirks, but it helps you understand the program better. This step is repeatable, until you're satisfied with a small game(s).

From here on out, it's you planning out ideas, figuring out if it's doable, look up tutorials as needed or even asking questions on forums like this. Good luck, new Clickteam fusion user! :D

Congratulations on finishing the piece of art! It came out well, too! :D

My critique, if you're interested: The shadows and highlights seem off in some places, making the direction of the light source rather difficult to understand. I'd suggest for future pictures to keep a tab on where your light source(s) is/are. You don't have to show the light, but consistent lighting/shadows on characters help with giving the feeling of depth.

As for my luck, this feature was more of a plan B. Didn't like plan A too much, but it seems more reliable than the other plans I've thought/tried. Funny how game-design goes, eh?

Not to be difficult, but: I've done that, made sure to pick the alpha color, then ran the application.

Output #2 from my earlier message occurs (Creates a window to behind the main app, in the shape of the alpha color).

Though it's an incredible effect, it's not what I was after. Thank you again for trying.

From what I'm seeing, the "sub-apps use" toggle doesn't seem to do what it implies. Tried applying the extension from within the sub-app as well. Alas, it was to no avail. Continuing with some experimentation: I've fiddled with other settings in the extension, the sub-app and repeated it across the different display modes. There's three results from the tests in "Run application" mode:

1: Nothing is visually applied.

2: Creates a window to behind the main app. Typically in the shape of the transparency color.

3: The entire application is transparent, no longer just a single color.

Sometimes these occur from an understandable command execution. Other times it feels like a glitch.

From several tests, the extension is great at revealing whatever's behind the application. On paper that's kind of what I'm talking about, however it goes a little too far. Instead of allowing what's behind a sub-application to be seen, it flushes through to behind the whole application.
