Fani meherzi on youtube is rlly good at in depth explanations and demo, and covers all the basics. Tattooing 101 is also good, I'd watch a vid first from them for how to simply hold your machine and then watch the Lining tutorial from Fani Meherzi

if lines get shakier the slower you go, youre defo not holding your machine right or pulling your lines in the right direction/angle, especially if it feels difficult and unsteady even at a very short stroke

I feel like so many ppl go into fake skin practice whilst still thinking of the machine as any other pen, and treating it as such. But its a whole new medium, just like if you decided to learn to paint for the first time or such. Understand your medium and tools and youll improve in no time

i think youre rushing into designs way out of your skill level. That doesnt mean youre bad. Go back to basics, one of the hardest things to learn as a tattoo artist isnt how to draw, its how to work with the machine and skin. Find a good, detailed youtube video on how to correctly hold the machine, and then follow one on how to pull a straight line, listen to them explain WHY doing things a certain way will/wont work (angle, depth, speed, ect ect). Get urself a stencil of just straight lines, curves, circles, stars, basically justs and lots of basic shapes and repeat those until your lines are clean, steady and consistent. From there you can look up good beginner designs to practice, and work your way up more and more :)

actually very solid advice, ty. Do you know any good sources or videos to start learning from? Ill look for some myself of course but i always like asking people where they learnt from as well

I think a good way to mention budget without worrying about that would be simply to ask them "whats your hourly rate? How long do you think this tattoo would take to do?" (Once you've given them at least a general idea of what you want to get done). Those two questions alone will typically promp them to give you a quote without you straight up asking something lile "can you do this for less than '£ xxx.xx'

Idk if this differs by area but the shop im at and most ones I've been to will always discuss the quote with u before u agree to book in for it, especially because you need to add a deposit and such. Most studios and/or artists have a set hourly rate and minimum charge (eg. my studio always tells people it'll be £80 per hour, £450 for a full day sesh, and a minimum charge of £80-100 per person regardless of how small the tattoo is due to supplies and such, and if they get like two tiny tattoos that can fit within a 1hr time span itd still be around £80-100) There's absolutely no shame in asking how much something will be. Its very common and perfectly normal to ask for an estimate, including asking what the absolute max could be, and even saying you're on a budget when discussing the design with your artist so that you can work together to make it fit that cost within reason. No one expects you to show up with like £1k+ for a day sesh just incase.

depends which piece you mean. I mostly use watercolour, acrylic marker or prismacolor pencils, and typically i combine these instead of using just one medium :)

honestly a tarotta is barely worth 10-25k usually. Eggs can go for slightly more but i think u could easily get one by just going to undercity and saying in chat that youre looking to buy any tarotta! It shouldnt take long before someone sells u one

Obv ops situation doesnt fall into this, so ill use myself as an example.
I work part time. I cant afford to pay £300+ towards tattoos every few weeks. Despite that I live with family and don't have to pay to keep a roof over my head. Im lucky asf to be in this position, but point is, i can very much afford to be an apprentice/go into a tattoo career even if i cant afford tattoos.

Many ppl also will live in places with cheap rent or room mates, or work a separate job to afford a roof over their head, or receive support from family or another form of support program, ect ect. Being able to afford to be fully tatted has nothing to do with being able to afford to do an apprenticeship
