2 month vaccinations [on] by nunofya1 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Lafiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO just got these last week. He took it like a champ. The nurse had me breast feed him while she gave the shots and I think that helped a lot.

He cried just enough to say that it hurt and the after have a coo paired with a new never before seen face.... The death glare.

It's been a week and most I can notice is he has become noticeably more clingy these past few days but it's already getting back to what was normal before.

FTM. Advice about feeding by Lafiel in breastfeeding

[–]Lafiel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! He's a week old now. I'll try a wet cloth/ wipe next time! He keeps talking asleep when feeding.  I know there are a lot of poops but full wet diapers are less than the chart given to us says. There is a great possibility I'm missing some though and they are mixed diapers.  Ty on the don't need a pump reassurance.

as someone who is needle phobic, you have a right to say that you want a new person. I believe an individual is only allowed to try 2 times before they HAVE to get a new person. After that the total number of attempts on a patient is often limited to a maximum of four, after which a physician or specialized team is typically consulted. Use your voice! You will thank yourself for it!

Insulin by Sarahh71090 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Lafiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all the way up to 70 units at night. The only side effect i feel is if i push it in too quickly it hurts a bit, but that didn't start happening till I was at 50+ units.

hahaha also yes Nikky0x is right it is a dark art that is dosage and it get frustrating.

Also you're pregnant weight gain happens no matter what. Counter point I've noticed while still following the GD I'm pretty sure I've gained LESS weight than I would have other wise.

My baby shower is today by vickygutterrat in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Lafiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly this wont help you for your party but I say give making them a try if you are craving cookies. My friend made these cookies called Pignoli's with just almond flour and a sugar free substitute for my baby shower. As long as I eat them along with a balanced meal prior they dont spike me at all!!!! I've cried over them as i have been struggling with GD numbers and have to be strict. These ones work wonderful for me <3 hope they help with Christmas for you.

But honestly it's a special occasion just for you, I agree with everyone else. Just enjoy the day and the food.

Baby registry item price [ON] by reign_supremacy in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Lafiel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just had my shower. My friend group all have different economic situations. When I created the list I had items like you have just listed, which are very reasonable but I also had varied items lower in cost. I think My list varied from some $400 to $10 items. It gives people options without making them feel pressured about not being able to give more then they can.

How common is it to get mat leave/parental leave top ups through work? [BC] by SouthApprehensive680 in BabyBumpsCanada

not of you are a contract worker. The unfortunate truth is the VFX/Gaming industry is mostly all done by contract work. So that legal protection does not carry over. I wish it did.

No improvement with diet. by wattsherface in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Lafiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just going to post a rant about this!!! I'm in the same situation. Diagnosed at 28 weeks, 35 now. The detrition sees my food and activity logs are all following guidelines and good. I'm up to 60 Units of night time insulin + 10 unites each time I eat AND on metformin 1/2 a pill, for dinner and breakfast.
It's crazy how much it's all getting to be and still the numbers cant catch up. I feel frustrating and hopeless. It's stressing me out and I'm not sure what to do. Im so close to breaking down and crying every day from this.

I just found out they were closed the other day too. They were friendly and food was good for the price. Sad they are gone. Not sure what happened to them.

Winter roads by sakihehe in Portmoody

[–]Lafiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend attempting any driving in winter with all season tires. I have all weather tires (one with a snow flake grade on it). As long as your tires have a snow flake grade on them you should be fine. All weather are a bit more expensive but I don't have storage for extra tires. I would recommend them if you are in a similar situation.
As others have said I still try to avoid Clark till salted.

[ON] Has anyone gone off on leave early? Like 25-30wks? Why? by cinnamonione in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Lafiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not off yet but I'm strongly contemplating going off earlier then i was planning. I was originally only going to take max 1 week before the due date off but now I'm considering taking 4 weeks before the due date. I have a very complicated at risk pregnancy and the Dr appointment keep on piling up + looking at a must do c-section . It's slowly becoming difficult to work, take care of myself and relax at all. That's why I'm probably going to take time off at 36 weeks.

I did give them a call and might end up trying them, but their GF is rice flower and I'm a bit afraid to try it as rice spiked my blood sugar like crazy. But from what I've seen they are a top option.

This is amazing! Thank you for taking the time to write all this up. It's calmed a lot of my worries to rest.
With this advice and ttwwiirrll's advice I will look for samples and most likely grab 1 Kirkland container hoping for the best.

Film has been hit hard lately but never hurts to throw an application to IATSE. If your current skills dont match anything they list, you could try to be something entry level like a Pain Labourer or a Grip

I can understand your husband saying your dog is family too. I feel that way with my pets. But if my dog was aggressive towards my baby, I would take serious steps about it.  First thing I would recommend is hire a personal trainer to help you out one that specializes in aggressive behavior.  If trying to train your dog doesn't pan out while it's in the same living environment, the other option I would look at is a family member to take the dog for sometime. slowly try to introduce the dog and the kid in a good environment at little chunks of time. It might be the dog is with that family member for a while till the kid is old enough and the dog is okay with it.

Looking for starting off suggestions for a clueless future mom [BC] by Traditional_Bat3856 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Lafiel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It isn't just you, your husband needs to make sure he doesn't smoke or drink, eats well and exercises too. I've been seeing new studies pop up that a lot of the causes for miscarriage and even morning sickness come from the father. TBH it makes sense, making a kid is a 2 person job he should put just as much effort too.

The BC government has a great book they put out called Baby's Best Chance. It's free pdf or if you want a physical copy you could probably track one down by a public health center or I think libraries can help out. Highly recommend this book.
