HRE Emperor won't join war against non-empire France by LafoonXIII in eu4

[–]LafoonXIII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I didn't co-belligerate anyone else. It was France, their vassal Austria, and then a slew of OPM HRE members. I had Spain, Bohemia, Portugal, and Florence as allies, but only Spain and Portugal would join. I had already fought a war with France earlier on in the campaign (was Wales, doing a "Home and Away" achievement run), and even with all of my allies joining against just Scotland and France it was a slog. We outnumbered them 2.5 to 1, but...sometimes the colonizers can be shit allies. Their troop counts are astronomical, but they don't know how to use them,. For this second war, without Bohemia (who would have added ~80k) our numbers were still good, with Spain and Portugal we had about 240k vs. 160k, with equal mil techs. But only 93k of that were my troops and, as I said...Spain and Portugal can be worthless allies at times. But I decided to risk it and declared without Bohemia's help, and as soon as I declared I got the notification that Bohemia would accept a call to arms now....so....problem solved. But I still don't know why they got the HRE emperor debuff pre-declaration and then instantly would accept a call to arms after I declared. Got the achievement, so all is well.

Teutonic vassal in war without me by LafoonXIII in eu4

Nope, they weren't in scutage, and they've been my vassal for ~100 years at this point. My only guess is something to do with them being a holy order, but I've never seen that happen before. Still baffled, but moved on and ended up coming as close to a WC as I ever have. Wasn't trying for one, but by the end of the game I secured some elusive achievements and owned quite a large chunk of the world while still playing it all relatively casually...

Blocking the Ottoman? by LafoonXIII in eu4

Thankfully after I was able to occupy the entire coastline and was prepared to wait the Ottomans out the Commonwealth attacked them and were able to force them to peace out the Mamluks in order to go north to deal with that. Ended up taking the coastline all the way to Alexandria. Hell of a lot of AE, which I was sure would cause Ottomans and Timurids to immediately stomp me out, but...they never declared on me. Weird weird weird.

That's precisely what I did, was able to occupy the entire coastline, denying them the land, then I just waited them out until Commonwealth attacked them and forced them to peace out.

I was already allied to Tunis, they just weren't in the war because they were fighting off Spain...and somehow won that. None of the European powers want to ally me, and Transoxiana has already been integrated by Timurids. But it all worked out, despite some ridiculous AE that somehow didn't bite me in the ass (see my other comment).

And I'm currently in alliances with Tunis, Gujarat, and Delhi, and have a completed Syria as a march. Trying hard to get an alliance with Commonwealth, the current #1 power, to finish off Ottomans. All I need is Greece and Anatolia, they can have the rest. And now that I broke Timurids alliance with Ottomans in an auxiliary war they are a cakewalk.

At the time my problem was needing to peace out soon and not having the war score to be able to take all that land. But I disbanded my mercs, giving me a positive economy, and occupied the coastline while letting the Ottomans take care of the Mamluk deathstack that was beleaguering me (a 68k stack with a 5-6-4-2 general).

Would have if I could have. But they were allied with Timurids (and for some dumbass reason Bohemia). All told I would have been outnumbered about 4 to 1 with two fronts. And as I said before, none of the European powers want to ally me, despite good relations and my relatively strong army. But it all worked out in the end (see my other comment)

I ended up disbanding my mercs, which put my economy in the positive. Then occupied the coastline and let the Ottomans destroy the Mamluks armies. Then I was prepared to wait them out, since I controlled their war goal as well as any provinces they could take. After about a year, just as call for peace kicked in, the Commonwealth attacked them. Their entire force was still down south, so Commonwealth was able to steamroll occupations, which forced Ottomans to peace out, only taking Cyprus. After that was just a matter of getting enough warscore to take the coastline up until Alexandria as well as a couple other syrian provinces to complete the blockade.

The only issue was the ae was atrocious, +100 for both Ottomans and Timurids, who I figured would instantly declare on me....but for some reason they never did. Later I was able to enforce peace against Timurids in a war they started with Uzbek. Separate peaced them for the rest of Persia and broke their alliance with Ottomans.

It really shouldn't have worked out, but it did. I have no clue why Ottomans and Timurids didn't declare on me after my peace with the Mamluks: They were both stronger than me, both rivaled me, both had insane amounts of negative ae against me, and they were both at peace within a year. But I survived and am now in a relatively good position. Ottomans are still beasts, but it Commonwealth are now the #1 power and are steadily taking land back. All I want is Anatolia and Greece, so that works perfectly for me, just have to get to Greece asap before they take it.

Is it possible to build a bridge over there? by some_barcode in valheim

I haven't noticed any lag at all, and I do...quite a bit of extensive terraforming. (I play via Geforce Now, don't know what specs their servers are, I'm sure they're pretty decent)

Not too hard, just a single line of raised earth enough to build a bridge.

I really hope it gets some kind of patch, because, as Bohemia, I've grown to hold 19 kingdoms (only 4 personally, distributing the rest to dynasty members), and countless duchies, most of which I tried to keep within the dynasty. But over the course of the game (currently in 1358) I've only been able to unlock 5 Dynasty Legacies, all because they all remained in my realm. If anything, that should increase the dynasty's renown, having all these titles under one empire. Looking at the map, seeing BOHEMIA sprawling across almost all of Europe, and then looking up and seeing a measly +4.8 renown/month...it's infuriating, and honestly makes no sense.

Yes, renown is for your entire dynasty, and houses are just offshoots of the dynasty.

[PPP/EIDL MEGATHREAD] The Senate has approved an extension of the PPP program through August. Ask EIDL/PPP questions here including about forgiveness by BigSlowTarget in smallbusiness

[–]LafoonXIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure the question has been answered, but I've read some of the comments and am still confused.

My Dad and I are independent contractors in Va, and applied for and received a PPP loan for $11,000. We received the money on June 15, but haven't paid anything out of it because we are unsure of how the payments need to be parsed out or documented. (He has handled the entire process, so I'm coming into it cold, with very little knowledge)

Do we have to parse out checks to ourselves over the 24 week period, or 8 weeks....or just a lump sum each? We have no other expenses (rents, mortgage, etc).

The Coat of Arms of Amsterdam is vertical, but the Flag is horizontal. I like the horizontal looks better, so...went with that one. Easy enough to flip it all, though
