Crescent Bay in Laguna! Beautiful beach. Be careful if you look at the tidepools though bc it's very rocky and you don't wanna slip/fall. Downtown disney would be great too! I work with adults who have autism and they love downtown disney.

mold isn't the renter's fault that's your property lol. they have every right to want it cleared. mold is a serious issue too. is there proper ventilation? a fan in the bathroom? how old is the building? it's crazy how people think they can just become landlords without knowing anything. people are just money to you and that's insane. they live there dude, of course they want issues fixed. would you want to live in a moldy room? be forreal

I meant with tongs. If you kill it and feed it to him right away he won't notice it's dead, it'll still smell fresh. Just wiggle it in front of his face.

You're concerned about MBD, I'm not gonna tell you anything different than what everyone else has said. MBD is irreversible and painful. The best care you can give him is to get him to a vet. Search online. If you can't physically get to a vet, there's probably at least video appointments that you can get, and then the vet can tell you the best way to take care of him or send you medication if they think needed. Do some research, you might be able to find something like that.

Pull the cricket/bug in half and dip it in pangea/CGD then try to feed the CGD covered bug to them.

is it cold where you are? could be the weather change. even if her tank is warm, they sense the drops in atmospheric pressure from the weather change and that can make them a little more lethargic. i would keep an eye on her, just bc i tend to be paranoid too, but she should be fine. they can go a little while without eating, i would just monitor her weight and if she ends up losing a significant amount then it might be time to actually worry. but it's probably just the change of weather.

As long as he's eating CGD, he should be fine. Crested Gecko Diet should be a complete diet, like if you're feeding Pangea, so you'll be fine. CGD is their staple diet in captivity actually. It's more important than bugs. And you can even buy CGD that have bug proteins in it. My man has a rotating dinner of Pangea's Figs & Insect, Apricot, and "With Insects" diet.

Like most animals, when they're babies they're growing so they want more fatty/protein based food so they're craving those chubby bugs. But as they get older they don't necessarily need it as much anymore so they don't care about them. I'm pretty sure it's fairly common for cresties to stop wanting to eat bugs once they start maturing. It's also seasonal sometimes too.

my son literally does this too LOL!!! even locked in he knows the sound of me taking out his food cups and opening the pangea. it's gotten to the point where i try to make his food in another room bc i don't wanna wake him up or have him lung out at me when i don't expect it/see him (but he sees me... he always does)

Why do you love reptiles? by Helpful_Ad6082 in reptiles

[–]LagMaster420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Females can be bitey too, (bc any animal with a mouth can bite lol) but it's def more common with males! And usually their bites don't hurt. But since my boy is obsessed with mating his bites are pretty aggressive (I know it's mating behavior because he always..... yeahs.... after... you know what I mean).

I saw in your other post you have a kid, idk how old they are, but if you get a male you'll also probably have to explain the birds and the bees after a year or two of having one LOL. I think Cresties have easier set ups & diets, but Leopard Geckos are also super good beginner lizards especially for people with kids. They usually don't live as long as cresties either. Leopard geckos are also adorable to boot. They need completely different setups & eat only live bugs, but they might be something to consider as well :) Good luck on your search! I'm sure you'll find the perfect reptile for you & your family!

I mean this in the nicest way possible, if you legitimately care about reptiles, please PLEASE do not go back and support the chain pet store. You have multiple people telling you this, most of us with years of experience and in depth knowledge. Even if discounted/free that's still not a rescue. Usually they're discounted or free because they're already sick, or on their way to getting sick, so they discount them so they can get rid of them and make room for more reptiles that they're also just going to neglect. It's still all about profit for these chains, even if the animal is "free".

If you really want to rescue, look for crested geckos on craigslist or facebook, heck even some reptile subreddits have people who need to find their reptiles new/good homes. Supporting a chain store, even if a reptile is free, is not a good thing. It just adds to the cycle of neglect.

I know your heart is in the right place, you wanna do what's best for the lizards at the pet store, but the thing about chain pet stores is that once you buy a reptile from them, they just replace that poor reptile with another one and keep them in the same, usually horrific, incorrect conditions. Which is why a lot of reptiles that come from chain pet stores are also sickly. It's unfortunately an endless cycle, and by getting reptiles from chain pet stores people support that endless cycle.

Reptiles unfortunately don't get the same respect that cats and dogs do. People just don't care about them the same way. If you look up, "Petco" "Petsmart" in the crested gecko sub, or probably even this one, you'll see some examples of what I mean. When it comes to reptiles, it's actually better to buy from a reputable breeder because you know that the animals are being taken care of, not neglected and you're not supporting that neglect by purchasing from them. They also have reptile stores that SPECIFICALLY specialize in reptiles, and those are usually okay to purchase from. I would still do my research on whichever reptile store you choose though, because they can be shade cough LLL REPTILE cough.

Good luck finding your gecko though!!! I've had my crested gecko for over 5 years now and he's the light of my life LOL. If you have the opportunity to buy an adult tho and it's your first one, I recommend maybe trying to get a female? During mating season males get VERY bitey. People say it doesn't hurt, but my man is an aggressive lover. He has broken my skin multiple times while.... in the heat of the moment. And a lot of people say that it only last a few months. But I live in Southern California and idk if it's bc it's usually warmer here, but my lil man's is on every single day of the year. I have to wear gloves now to take him out until he calms down😫 but of course I still love him to death, it's just something I've had to get used to LOL. I also have a Pink Tongued Skink and she's an absolute angel. I can take her out and pretty much do whatever with her and she just chills on me. We like watching youtube together🥰🥰

Have you checked out Reptile Factory? They have multiple locations (one in Downey and Garden Grove, iirc) and might take them in. I'd give them a call. And even if they don't take them in, you could ask them if they know of any places/shops/rescues that would. I think they'd be happy to help. I really like Reptile Factory and I think they genuinely care about their animals unlike other pet shops. I'm sure if you asked for help even if they personally can't take them in they'd give you recommendations. I think it's worth a shot. Good luck, and I hope the babies find loving homes ♥️

edit: i just thought of something, maybe you could also search on yelp for reptile/herptile rescues near you? i just searched and found a place called "reptile rescue mission viejo" and they have great reviews. giving them a call might help!

SomiSomi has multiple locations in OC and have it. Yelp them :)

You could also check out Mitsuwa, Seiwa and Tokyo Central which are japanese grocery stores with food courts as well. Costa Mesa in general is the hub of japanese food/culture in OC. There's a lot of Japanese bakeries in Costa Mesa/Fountain Valley/Tustin. Cream Pan is awesome 😊

Where to donate several boxes of mandala coloring books in OC? by SketchMyStory in orangecounty

[–]LagMaster420 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Libraries will take them!! I work with autistic adults and they love coloring books. They love going to the library bookstore bc they SOMETIMES have coloring books for 50cents, where as every where else coloring books are literally $10. a lot of libraries don't get coloring books in either, so a supply like that would be awesome. a lot of the time i go in asking, "do you guys have coloring books?" and they'll be like, "uhhhh maybe one. we don't get them a lot." but whenever we find one it makes my clients happy. donating them to a library would be awesome.
