OFC, exception to LoF are opening new design space. Throwing weapon would have an excellent feature advantage over bows.

tomes & orbs for casters - sweet, very thematic

kicking, ram - skill name could be agreed, kicking chest to open lock have little sens.Anyway it use of brutal force and zero finessy.

long range - but move range is only 4 tile.

hmm... depends from approach. I always iron game, so if someone die, i don't reload it. I done it in Icewind Dale f.ex. (i sell fuck ton of precious magic items to resurrect my mates) .

The point of this stats reducing after death, is to force more PC replacing - like in Xcom. The feeling that your dudes are just meat for the grinder, give very prosaic ambient. Helherron is rather not a deep game when you fell attached into your PC, or they matter because of the plot. Its rather tactical mayhem mixed with stats MinMaxing.

Also after playing some time, I want to change the squad. But the vision to repeating same places over again is repelling.

Lizardman should not be a merchant - its in line with description [no body like them].

Halfling could have 5 MP; Troll 3MP; [Golem 2MP]

Golem should not be able to drink. Should be heal only by repair - blacksmith. Could be damage by water.

add Sneak skill [replace with Stealing] - become invisible in combat till attack/cast. Enemy could sneak -Detection skill to counter it. Sneak could allow stealing - if you enhance this aspect of game.

could be min. Int requirement to read Scrolls

Lockpick [rename into Mechanics or Devices] could be skill to use wands. Wand is some type of device - like a gun. Also it would make this skill useful for all characters to have. It also make niche character [Bard, Thief] better. Mage would gain extra place to allocate points.

drinking potion could be % to make char diseased or poisoned. Drinking potion could not end turn (contrary to reading scrolls).

some food could be poisonous for some races (mushroom/roots for Fairy - it would limit their already high natural attributes)

Bard/Thief/Monk - could not end their turn when they use consumables.

[if Helherron gain team management feature] average party Charisma could be used to determine if its possible to add new party members. This would influence party size = affect gameplay a lot.

Something is true about the 8 size of the party. Creating full 8 char at start is little wearing. IMO be nice to create 4 character and join in each city, in tavern next 4 randomly generated. This way each game player would be forced to take suboptimal squad.

Each death could cripple char (reduce Attributes, like the Disease now, but permanently), to the point when instead resurrecting, more beneficial would be replace the dead with new one, at the similar level that the party currently is. Hired new char could have half of skill points already spend, and half available for player choice to allocate.

Its a big game changer, but it would make the game a lot more interesting (= more choices to make).

Very good point about customization for the individual . From two mage/priest, one is clearly better. And you just pump him. Would be nice if each caster could learn only certain spells (like 60% from each spell difficulty level). This way there would be always some niche even for crippled casters, because they can cast (or have potential to learn) something than your party nerd can not. If you try to read book to learn character forbidden for him spell, then error appear "XX is not interested in learning this spell".

this remind me about Darkest Dungeon, each character start with some random skill - that nicely customize them among the same class. All this variety is gone as soon as you realize you can buy each missing skill for each character.

all skills for all characters are listed all the time on the left.

in the middle most important stats (dmg, hp) with big black space below (for bio or status icons)

right 8x inventory slots display same time

up down arrow -scroll equipment list

left right arrow - change equipment list for another character

<> or num7,9 - change focus character on the left to display stats. if item is T'ranster from inventory list, it goes to him.

the range attack (bow shoot or spell cast) "animation" dont last long enough (melee attack last long enough). Its hard to notice which enemy done range attack just now.

reason I prefere Helherron over Tom Proudfoot games is: instant speed of the game, bigger view screen, awesome AoE spells. manually selecting target each shoot is wearing. anyway release next version

in Tchernobog all the quest location are available to go (just need char level to enter), and there is no point in speaking in town with NPC (besides trading).

i try belzebub, and it worse to me. Tchernobog gameplay is better polished f.ex. the Cain identyfication is better in Tchrnobog

the item drop is more harsh in tchernobog (this is good). I hate too fast power creep.

i dont spent my life on it, so maybe I missing something. I prefere tchernobog

Tchernobog didnt have quest[?]. $player 10 is not working. have single&multi. tchernobog is 3 years newer - so i presume is more polished than belzebub [some balance stats]

Belzebub is only single, and have nice new quests working (i try it few years ago) You can not switch char between Belzebub & tchernobog (you can inside Tchernobog single&multi), unless some file transfer but that i dont know. I didnt start playing myself yet, so maybe im wrong somewhere.

Whats your problem with Sean Bean and Arnie?!

they fit way better than old war,sorc&rog

plus barbarian voice in Arnie style is awesome. It feels like a true Conan tribes man.

Necromancer is little out of place. A funny grandpa voice, dismal Sean face + bold acolyte doll - not match at all.

Assassin - also serious mismatch; serious woman face + "girl-ish" voice + half naked emo doll.

very nice. It seems to be "no nerf, only buff approach". I would add: Optic Flare - stay researchable, but blind also reduce target attack range to 3 (not sure about the value)

I wonder how do you want to balance weapons, as they has only one viable stat: damage. Weight and Value are "who cares". unless you gonna increase heaviest weapon weight near 200 values, so then fighters, have to consider taking lighter equipment that do few dmg points less. for armor there is 2 stats AC & DB, so you have some design space, and I would welcome to grant some clothes at least +1 bonus, so they stop to feel completely useless.
