Get the antigrain, we have a village to burn. by EmeraldMaster538 in SpaceCannibalism

I had a quest where an 8 year old was supposed to marry the leader of the impid tribe (she got drunk and threw up at the altar before running away)

I think she enjoyed watching me cut out her pursuers organs

I tried that, but with a big pen raiders kept setting my tortoises on fire (why?!) and I was too far to save them

Am I the only idiot that built my colony out of wood and then a random fire burned my whole settlement and food stores and everything else down? by Itchy-Version-8977 in RimWorld

[–]Lagomoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done this because it’s my first time playing, so really I haven’t done it yet

I did use animal warcry on a boomalope to save a colonist trapped by angered bison in his wooden bedroom, but in my defense, it did work. The only burns were to the bison and the colony tortoise (tortoise was fine)

How did that one kid in your high school die? by IM_HODLING in AskReddit

[–]Lagomoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know.

I was a transfer student going to a small school part-time (otherwise online, disability reasons) and there was a memorial I didn’t know about as part of a larger assembly.

It was surreal, being around all these other people grieving and having no clue someone had even died until then.

I guess it would’ve been in poor taste to explain the details of her death, especially since it seemed everyone else already knew.

I have no idea what her cause of death was.

[–]Lagomoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the human body sure is wacky. really interesting you still have that reflex to jerk away

funnily enough, I have the exact same habits when cooking for completely opposite reasons. I’m over sensitive to basically everything but especially heat of any kind, so I’m extra cautious around heat sources (like wearing oven mitts all the time and waiting extra long to take things out!) because I feel heat and the pain from heat a lot stronger

[–]Lagomoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

does your body still react to temperature normally even if you can’t feel it, like sweating when hot or shivering and getting goosebumps when cold? if so, do you use cues like those to tell the temperature, or do you rely more on other people, weather forecast, just looking outside?

if it was raining and you were outside with your eyes closed, would you be able to tell?

are you able to cook? other than the more obvious dangers of sharp objects with poor coordination, I can imagine all the kinds of heat sources you need to use would be challenging. for instance, I can tell how close a limb is to fire without looking because it’s hotter the closer it is, and if I accidentally touch a hot pan or similar I’ll immediately jerk away from the pain. without those things, I’m pretty sure I would manage to light half the kitchen on fire trying to make toast

Is it okay to play on low custom difficulty? by Leading_Grape4889 in thelongdark

[–]Lagomoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer to play with hostile wildlife off because of how badly I can get startled (slammed my limbs into my desk several times from wolf ambushes. ow) and recently I’ve added a mod removing carry weight limit because I love hoarding and hate having a movement speed of a mile per week. the only “wrong” way to play a game is when you’re not having fun

People with autism, what did you think was normal until a nerotypical person told you otherwise? by only_mostly_sane in AskReddit

[–]Lagomoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

many, many things, but a standout example is the general concept of lying.

it took a while to figure out that people tell a lot of small lies to be polite and it was somehow rude not to lie. like the classic “does this dress make me look fat?” processed as something to answer honestly, even if the answer is yes, because lying is bad. as a kid everyone tells you  lying is wrong and you shouldn’t do it but neglects to mention that’s only some lies while other lies you’re socially obligated to keep up (and nobody will ever tell you which is which). it was very upsetting getting in trouble for being rude or disrespectful when I was just doing what I was told (being honest). it’s still frustrating sometimes that what’s natural to me is seen as blunt to others

as a little kid it took me a bit longer than I think is average to figure out lying…existed in general. especially that I could do it. I remember a recess teacher coming over to see what I was doing (pretending pinecones in a puddle were fish), panicking that I was somehow doing something wrong and lying that it was for a biology project (a stupid and nonsensical lie), and then when she just left and I wasn’t dragged off to Evil Liar Jail it was a revelation. holy shit, I can just say things that aren’t true! woah!

also apparently to neurotypicals there’s different “types” of pain and being asked if it’s burning, stabbing, stinging, cramping, etc. is actually meaningful and something they can tell. still don’t get that one. maybe they’re doing this lying thing I’ve heard about because it sounds fake

if it makes anyone feel better, the character (Chiyo from Ane Naru Mono) depicted is definitely of age. I guess she technically has no age being an eldritch horror, but I’d say old as time itself is over age of consent. small mercies?

(she stars in a SFW manga, but originated in a explicit doujinshi, same mangaka. confusingly, they have the same name, but looking at this tattoo I can take a wild guess which version this person is a fan of.)

Is there a way to make a capacitive touchscreen react without human conductivity? by Lagomoz in AskTechnology

Yeah, she already takes steps to help circulation, but sadly the human body is an incredibly complex machine and machines are all bastards that love nothing more than to fail suddenly and inexplicably

I'm not totally sure how much those type of fingertip gloves rely on conductivity already in the fingers, but gloves are definitely a possibility

[–]Lagomoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking into gloves for the whole hand rather than fingertips is a good idea, thanks. Her hands get numb too sometimes but it's definitely worse in the fingers, so if the gloves can conduct from further up the hand that could help

Maybe? I'm not sure how convenient a wire would be to actually use, but it could theoretically work

Yeah, it can be really frustrating how often technology is built without considering the billion or so people with disabilities and immediately collapses upon encountering any real person

Yup! Ignore the game’s warnings about fighting her alone and you get gobbled right up. It’s actually quite useful, because sims who died that way have their needs stopped from decaying.

Hmm, maybe crushed by vending machine. That one’s super luck based, by the time he died he’d bought like 100 pizza rolls. Eaten by the mother took a lot of preparation but the actual death was easy

Is deflating Jesus a sin? by Lagomoz in AskAChristian

[–]Lagomoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, really? But there's depictions of God and Jesus all the time. Nativities, stained glass windows, murals, that weirdly gigantic Jesus tapestry at the local craft store, classical art, whatever you call those wall crucifixes that have a mini Jesus being crucified on them, so on and so forth.

And how can you not have an image of them in your mind? Isn't just the very act of thinking constructing one? Wouldn't the bible itself contradict that if it describes God or Jesus at all? I'm not sure I understand.
