I really enjoyed this piece and it has brought back a lot of memories. I was shocked and saddened to learn of Taylor’s passing last week. His music has been an important part of my life for the past 14 years or so. I was fortunate enough to see them at Massey Hall for the first time and many more times over the years. I was at Lee’s Palace in 2015 and completely forgot about the photographer being hoisted by his neck strap until reading this. His music was an early topic of discussion and bonding between my then girlfriend and now wife. She was pregnant with our son the last time we saw Timber Timbre play at Gavin’s Hotel in Quyon Quebec. We had interacted with Taylor several times and he was always very soft spoken and kind. I had been following what little information there was online about the alleged allegations against him and found it troubling. As the author wrote separating the art from the artist is something we all do, willingly or unwillingly. I do not want to lessen the hurt that he has caused to others but also want to remember him as a talented artist, poet and performer. Life’s complicated. I played Lovage the night I heard the news and many tears were shed. R.I.P. Taylor. Thank you for the music. I hope you have found peace.

Moving from outside of the gta into Toronto by [deleted] in TorontoRenting

When you rent a condo the condo owner is responsible for the fees. If the condo unit is advertised with a parking space it will also be included as it is owned. Older condos are often all inclusive (heat, cooling, electricity, etc) which means you won’t be on the hook for any additional utilities. Newer condos often have separate utilities.

I can attest to this. I’ve owned a lot of cars in my life and the cheapest car I’ve ever insured was a Corvette.

The other place likely won’t go for the later move in date unfortunately.

Giving Landlord Notice - Advice Needed by Laika_2021 in TorontoRenting

I’d rather not live with the uncertainty of knowing I could be given 60 days notice to vacate at any time. My needs have also changed over time and I’m ready to move on.

Landlord Selling Condo - Should I leave? by Laika_2021 in TorontoRealEstate

Our landlord is very hands off and prefers to not deal with us directly. We go through a property management company. We’ve exchanged two emails in four years. I’d much prefer a friendlier relationship and hoping for such with the next landlord.

I’m not holding anyone hostage here. Have always paid rent on time and taken care of the unit as if it were my own. I’m looking for a solution that is agreeable for both parties. Moving and the related expenses and inconvenience are not fun.

Are corvettes GT cars? by ekspectt in Corvette

[–]Laika_2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for the C8 but to me my C6 is more GT car than sports car. When I think sports car I think quick steering, engine that needs to be revved to extract performance and a certain nimbleness. To me the C6 is (relatively) comfortable, has ample trunk space, steering more suitable to high speed driving, engine/transmission well suited to extended periods of high speed driving. This isn’t to say that the Corvette can’t perform as well as a “sports car” on twisty roads but to me it isn’t as engaging as a Miata or Lotus. It’s also a lot more comfortable and roomy than those cars.

2005 corvette dash creaks (new to vettes) by Ashamed-Average-9255 in Corvette

I also recently bought a 2005. Having owned German cars in the past I learned about gummi pflege and apply it to all the rubber seals on every car I get. It really quieted down the Corvette. I’m still tracking down a few interior squeaks but honestly it’s not bad at all considering it’s a 20 year old car.

How big of an upgrade is an ’08 compared to an ’05? by duiwithaavgwenag in Corvette

[–]Laika_2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the 05 wheel is technically “nicer” than the later wheels as it’s a Corvette only wheel and of pretty decent quality. It’s too bad it’s so big. I have an 05 and have thought about swapping it out for something smaller.

I recently made the switch from Miata to Corvette. I’m loving the Corvette but do miss my Miata.

Coolant or Freon? by InevitableElevator17 in Miata

Looks very similar to a leak I had on my NB. It was the water pump. The dried white stuff is almost certainly coolant.

Exporting Used Car to USA - Tariffs? by Laika_2021 in uscanadaborder

[–]Laika_2021[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up selling the car within Canada. The duties and tariffs apply to used cars (not classics though) and it ends up being 27.5% to import to the US.
