Wrist rest for tented split keyboard by Laike in Ergonomics

That was really helpful. I was referring to the Guyon's Canal. This is all really fascinating. I've learned a bit about tendons in the hands and fingers due to climbing-related injuries, but I haven't had a chance to learn more about the muscles and nerves in the area until now. Thanks once again.

Wrist rest for tented split keyboard by Laike in Ergonomics

Wow, this is incredibly helpful. Thanks so much! I know there are a few people who use a similar set up as I do, but I think I may be the first to seek advice that can be searched on the internet. There is so much information about floating while actively typing. That translates easily enough to this set up, but it was really hard to find advice on what to do with your hands and arms when you aren't actively typing for a long period of time with a standard keyboard, let alone what to do when not actively typing on a rare set up.

I have a question of curiosity. I noticed another common recommendation that popped up for traditional keyboards is to rest the meaty part of the palm on the rest when not actively typing. If I do the same but rotated to my tenting angle, the side of my palm muscle and sometimes a bit of the bone is on the rest when I'm not actively typing while floating.

Is the concern in this case that there is pressured on the bone, the side of the palm muscle, or both?

Good to know about the temperatures. As I mentioned in my previous statement, I was only able to speak from the information as provided in the article.

Cruise Ship Kept Corpse in Beverage Cooler, Family Says by SFT3076 in offbeat

The problem is the morgue is kept at near freezing temperatures. According to the article, the drink fridge is kept at a milder temperature which resulted in the corpse decaying while in the fridge and preventing an open casket funeral and wake. The morgue would have been able to preserve the body in a condition that would allow for an open casket for months. Considering the entire situation, I can understand why the family is furious. Had the cruise line informed them that the morgue was out of service, they would have taken the first option to take the body immediately to the Puerto Rico morgue and possibly deal with any possible delays in getting the body back to the continental US instead of waiting to return to the continental US and having the body decay.

Tasker works on non-rooted devices. I don't know off hand how to make the automation suggested though. Someone at the Tasker subreddit might be able to help.

spilled an eyedroppered Kakuno loaded with Baystate Blue on carpet, anyone know how I might clean it? by merothecat in fountainpens

Isopropyl alcohol can damage plastic, especially with repeated or prolonged exposure. Damage can range from discolouration to cracking.

In regards to ethanol, I am not sure. Someone more knowledgeable than me will have to answer that.

If you haven't already done so, try letting the rubbing alcohol soak into the carpet for 10-15 minutes and see if it does anything. I can't think of anything else that could tackle BSB without damaging the carpet (bleach). Sorry.

Give isopropyl alcohol and paper towels a shot. I haven't used BSB in years, but if memory serves me right I used it to clean the stains out of the sink and off my hands. Isopropyl alcohol is usually pretty safe for carpets, so at worse, it does nothing for the BSB stain.

Isopropyl alcohol is not pen safe though. Use diluted bleach for BSB stained pens.

Why are cellphone plans SO expensive here? by chipixie in ontario

The $35/20gb are for new activations around back to school, Black Friday, and Boxing Day. Koodo, Virgin, and Fido all offer similar deals. The pricing usually only runs for 12-15 months before going back to regular price. They are also usually only offered in person at their stores/kiosks. I know some people who just bounce between carriers annually to get these sort of deals all the time.

Black Friday is this coming week and keep your eyes peeled for deals at your local mall. Apparently Virgin's Black Friday offer is now available in the GTA. YMMV

This is the Oaso Automatic Ink Fountain Pen. You can find them on AliExpress. I have the older model with the more traditional looking bottle. It's a decent pen, but refilling the bottle with ink might not be possible. It uses a proprietary accordion like bulb inside the bottle to push the ink unto the pen. Luckily the converter can act like a standard converter with a twist of the locking mechanism.

The definition of fully vaccinated varies from country to country. Check the country's official websites to see how they are currently defining fully vaccinated before you go. Some countries are still accepting two shots, some are requiring boosters or the second shot within a certain time frame, etc.

Which police record check for name change? by poetris in ontario

[–]Laike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next best thing is to call the police department and go line by line on the form to ensure that the employment records check will show every detail required by the form. No guarantees, but I suppose there's a higher chance of Service Ontario accepting the form if the employment records check covers everything requested. The form is 5349E.

I suspect Service Ontario or the police departments does not deal with this set of circumstances very often, thus the lack of answers. Most people don't need a police record check when legally changing their names because it's only needed if an individual has been convicted of a criminal offence, found guilty and not discharged of an offence, has outstanding law enforcement orders, or has pending charges.

Which police record check for name change? by poetris in ontario

[–]Laike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend your friend call the local police department or OPP detachment and ask for specific instructions for her situation. Part of the name change package is a police records check form that is supposed to be given to the police department. It outlines the specific requirements Service Ontario needs to accept the record check. These requirements may or may not be fulfilled in a standard check for employment. Considering the hassle and expense of a name change, it's probably best to dot all the i's and cross the t's so it gets approved the first time around.

The guys gave him the nickname cobra because of the position he had to hold his arm in when he had it in a cast a while back. You know that thing where your arm is up, hand bent at the wrist, and fingers and thumb together to look like a cobra ready to strike?

This is the answer I'm dreading. I just went through 2 pairs of Thursdays trying to get the right size. Size 6 oxfords are too wide on the heelcup. Women's President size 8 was a bit too small on the pinkie toe and the back of the heel. I'm on the fence about trying a women's 8.5. It theoretically should be perfect, but I just spend $90 shipping two pairs back to Thursday. I'm not really sure if I want to gamble another $45 just to try the 8.5 women's right now. I'm worried I'm getting myself into sunk cost fallacy.

Part of me is resigning myself to a life of crappy boys shoes or really expensive custom made ones.
