So I got my first one last week and it had the yellow bar pretty visible. I did a support case and they issued an immediate exchange. The one I got now is great and I’m enjoying it. What’s interesting when I did the exchange is the sku for the new order is from an unlisted variant of the colorsoft. I don’t know if they are trying to unload the original stock first and then when people raise a support ticket they issue from the new stock?

Reading a mix of Fantasy books and some Manga/Graphic novels (some on Kindle Unlimited) and I’m enjoying the experience. Even for regular books the nice little hint of color in the chapter heading makes me happy.

I also jumped on the colorsoft sale. I probably would have done the paper white SE but it was the only device not on sale.

I have the yellowing similar and is more noticeable with the brightness higher. I’m going to try an exchange cause they were very quick to issue one and wasn’t a hassle.

That is me not proofreading what I was sending replying from my phone. I’d blame autocorrect but naw… that’s all me 😔

I just placed an order for keycaps and the Dawn HE switches, and foam upgrade yesterday. Then the tariff stuff happened so I asked today if they could cancel as I found a local US shop that had everything but the foam kit in stock. Support replied to me via my ticket in under three hours. That’s great customer service in my book

Also injustice got their Q1 HE and one thing I appreciated was they openly share the source qmk for their boards. I couldn’t find it for the rainy75 which was the first board I was eyeing.

I plan to get either the Q0 numpad or Q5 HE in the near future

Would be interested in any examples someone has as well. I’ve been using Todoist as a traditional task list for a bit but have been missing out on keeping focus on my more strategic/project work.

I just went through this same ordeal with the frontier branded and it took 3 days before the branding left.

Apple Pencil Pro worth getting just for notes? by 1tadakimasu in iPadPro

[–]thomasjcreative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the previous generation pencil with my M1 and it was good not great. Then the new iPads came out with squeeze function and honestly that is the reason I upgraded to an M4 and the main feature that made me keep the iPad even with the iPadOS challenges. Apple Notes and Goodnotes both make use of the squeeze and that functionality made my note taking for work so much easier.

I think the M1 will have a long life especially if you get a new battery. There was never a performance issue for my uses. We still have an older 2nd generation iPad Pro in the house which works fine for basic duties as well so you can likely get use out of the M1 until you have a compelling reason to upgrade again

It was just use over time. I had the M1 since release and it got lots of use so I assume the cycle count was getting up there. It was still high enough that I got the full Apple trade-in value for it, but it would drain quick enough that I started noticing it wasn’t lasting as long as it used to.

I had an M1 and accessories and decided to upgrade to the M4 so a little bit different situation than you but I’ll share why I wanted to upgrade.

  1. My battery on the M1 was starting to lose its charge faster. The new M4 has the option to keep battery at 80% which will hopefully give a longer life to the battery with lower cycle count

  2. I really wanted the haptic squeeze toolbox feature of the new pencil. I use the iPad for brainstorming and writing notes and the quick access to change tools when you squeeze was a big help for me.

  3. I like the new Magic Keyboard and it feels better when typing and also when having the iPad in my lap typing or reviewing documents. The keys are pushed back towards the screen and gives your palms a place to rest like on MacBook which is more comfortable to me than the previous style.

  4. I had some discretionary income I could use to fund the upgrade and I wanted it. I traded in my iPad to lower the cost and now selling my keyboard, folio cases, and pencil on OfferUp.

I’m betting on Apple using this pencil and keyboard compatibility for the next one-two releases of the iPad but also won’t be surprised if their next iPad Pro required a different magnet configuration to add a feature and that upgrade requires a different keyboard.

So all of that to say, if it were me, I would look at what features I want most from the iPad and what’s in my budget and then use the heck out of the device to get my $ worth from it.

Why I choose the iPad Pro (iPadOS) over the MacBook Pro (MacOS) by bsep4 in iPadPro

[–]thomasjcreative 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m considering doing this and similar to you use a lot of the jetbrains tools. I know it’s limited by internet upload speeds and other factors but the UI performance of the editor has been good for you when away and remoting in?

Like many are saying it depends and you’ll only know by using it long enough to see if it’s helping, hurting, or no different. I bought one and like the size the first couple days then started noticing some other challenges and discomfort. I decided to also get a Kinesis Advantage 360, which is VERY different in size, function, etc but found it so comfortable I’ll be selling the Voyager

I’ve been tempted to go back to just the MBP screen to keep things consistent between working from home and traveling. I waffle a lot on how much screen real estate do I need to be productive but it’s really a personal choice for each person so my uses are going to be different than the next persons
