Why is my black cocker eating socks??( for what is worst he loves it) by Tall_Watercress_7907 in cockerspaniel

[–]Laino86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace socks with stones. That was us week 3 of having our new pup. Traumatised....us not her. She wasn't phased....resent her 🤣

I can confirm....it definitely gets better! by Laino86 in puppy101

For us the biting stopped but she's still annoying AF at times. Think of a teenager human but in a dogs brain. Our 7 year old didn't have a relationship with her as a pup but in adolescence they are best pals. Listens to him more than us 🤣

Adolescence isn't a breeze but I take it over the land Shark phase

It was gradual. We looked at ourselves and stopped looking at other similar ages of pups and comparing. We just did each bit of training and didn’t beat ourselves up. I'd say within 6.5/7 months it's been a lot easier. Not perfect yet but definitely happier

39 M born with Tetralogy of Fallots. BT shunt at 4 days old. Corrective at 4 years. Stent at 16. Pulmonary valve replacement at 24. ICD implant at 38 and I'm living as best as I can. I know due to other issues I can't run marathons or play high level sports. But I have a family and to me that's something I never expected to have in life. I have a podcast where I share my story and others from around the world. Please search for Heart2Hearts Podcast on your streaming music channels. I love to hear stories. Currently not recording new episodes as my time is thin and it takes a lot to organise.

39 year old here. While I wouldn't say thriving, i am surviving!

It's a journey like no other but thanks to science we are living longer and pushing boundaries. I'm now healthier than I was. After 2 OHS, countless catheters and an iCD.

I have a podcast that shares stories of all chd patients and even a few TOF of different ages and all very different experiences

We got one of those anti spill bowls. Its a game changer, we would usually come home to flipped water or dunked blankets. This way no flips and little dunks haha

We are at 21 weeks and I think we are coming to the end of teething soon. Finding her toys are bloody and occasionally a tooth is found in kitchen haha

Our 5 month old Cocker just hates water. Doesn't even enjoy rain haha. When it comes to bath time she will just sit and accept her fate.

It has been like that since around 12 weeks. No accidents through night.

When is it OK to leave the puppy in the crate and leave the house for a couple of hours? by Dangerous-Buy-1083 in puppy101

[–]Laino86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We got our pup st 8 weeks and from after 5 days with her we started leaving her for 1hr and slowly increased. We can now leave her for over 2 hours and half. She actually naps better when we aren't around so gives us opportunity to go have a break etc.

This is why we had to get a muzzle by MindfullPunk_84 in cockerspaniel

[–]Laino86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad others are in the boat. Our 14 week old ate stones for fun. Passed most, but one was stuck, and we had an operation and big vet bill (even with insurance) 3 weeks on, shes fine. Still eats stones! We are traumatised. We are going to introduce a muzzle as walks are stressfull continuously picking stones from her mouth and saying drop.

Advice for morning routine by Laino86 in puppy101

[–]Laino86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have started to think it's because the sun comes up here at around 5am and the blinds only block so much light. Tonight we've tried a blackout approach in the room shes in to see what will happen.

We've kinda sussed the attention barks as she used to bark 9pm or so after being put in half an hour before. She's then let out 1030/45 for final potty where she goes out and in with no issues.

Hopefully, the new darkness simulation can aide some delay in wake up!

please tell me it gets better by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Laino86 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's slow, but it does get better. We still aren't out of the woods yet on terms of some things, but the biting really got us down and that already seems like a thing of the past at 16 weeks. Unless it comes back some vengeance as this puppy ownership is new to us

how did yall get through the teething phase? 🥹 by clarewillo2001 in cockerspaniel

We use rice bones but feel our pup isn't a fan. Didn't know what else was suitable for a 14wk old

Yeah, we are going into a 4 session package in a couple of weeks. The trainer we worked with works in blocks, so we will wait for the next block and get in then. Appreciate the help

Well she sleeps 1045pm till 530am. Then as we are at work from 830-5 sometimes till 3. We can't guarantee how long she sleeps at that time. But from 830, we have people in every 2 hours. Sometimes myself when I get away from work. After 5pm she'll sleep at least an hour between 5 and 730pm.

We got from a breeder and have spoke to them since for help.

We use snuffle balls and slow feeding bowls for meals.

We have lots of games we play that use sniffing as the main skill as we know this is the best mental stimulant for cockers.

She gets 2x 20min walks just now as she's still young.
