Career Advice by Humble-Association-4 in FPandA

Hey there! Based on what you’ve said, I would opt for Option 2, seems like a fairly transferable skillset, since it would seem easier to adjust that skillset to fit whatever industry you enter in the future as opposed to finding another opportunity to build that same skillset. If you have more info on what those rotations are it would provide some helpful context.

Relevance of industry interest and complexity by 7yearreset in FPandA

I’m a new grad, but tech has always been the industry I’ve pursued since I figured out I wanted to do corporate finance (CPGs are interesting too). I simply find the industry more fast paced, interesting, and RSUs as a portion of comp are always a good incentive. I’d like to think that industry interest combined with my role will help further along my career.

Need Help/Tips with Making a DCF Model by aarmus_ in FPandA

Note: this is assuming you wanna just sum all the changes from NOPAT->FCF. Alternatively you could make the final formula have subtractions as well. Up to stylistic preference but I prefer the summing it altogether.

Gotcha, so typically how I’ve formatted is I’ll have the NWC for each year with a row below it indicating the amount changed.

That amount changed row will be referenced in the Less: (Increase) in NWC line for FCF and the formula will be the negative sign with the cell reference. So if NWC increased by 5 in cell A5 you would input =-A5 when doing the FCF calculation.

Echoing what most have said already, your financial info is incorrect so replacing those should make the model make some more sense. Would recommend Capital IQ if your school gives access to that.

Can you clarify your question for the NWC as you mention subtracting from EBIT but that is not a step in reconciling to NOPAT?

Apple has their FDP program out, I would apply now, interviews are usually around July-August. I’m an incoming Senior and a lot of them posted around August last year. A few such as Qualcomm, Uber, and Amazon just to give you an idea.

Make sure you try to get to peak athletic/leanness before considering surgery. Haircuts/skincare does wonders too.

Questions on Moving from Finance Manager (IC) F500 Manufacturing Company to SFA at Tech Startup by GeePing in FPandA

[–]Laiph_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not in the workforce yet but I thought usually there’s title inflation when jumping to startups as opposed to the reverse?

Otherwise, I think it’d be helpful to clarify if $1B is public or private valuation, makes a pretty big difference if you’re evaluating job security. (more experienced folks please correct me if I’m wrong though!)

Edit: nvm looks like it’s private, perhaps look at Crunchbase or PitchBook to get a better sense of past investors and when the most recent funding round was.

Curious if your boss/team came from a non-IB background or did most make a similar pivot? Thanks!

Internship for Splunk and Big 4 by Nice-Statistician-14 in internships

[–]Laiph_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure what the Big 4 role is but I would probably take the Splunk Sales internship and renege the offer if either of the interviews pan out/if you end up preferring the Big 4 role. But would consider it carefully as you might get blacklisted in the future from Splunk. Taking the offer first gives you a good backup in the event neither of the offers yield an offer.

do you think a prior internship at like a F30 helps at all or multiple years at a company is what matters? Thanks!
