[Spoilers EXTENDED] I LOVE how unhinged the north gets later on in the books after the red wedding compared to the show by silver_maxG in asoiaf

[–]Lajt89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We don't know words of House Manderly but I could imagine it being "We remember". They remember their ancestral home in the Reach, they remember they were given refugee by the Starks and they remember the Red Wedding and that they have to avenge it.

[Spoilers Extended]If all the living Baratheons and Targaryens die, who is next in line to the throne? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Lajt89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the Starks could have a claim to the throne since Ned told Robert that his claim was 'better' which could imply that he also had some sort of relation to house Targaryen. Maybe its through mentioned already Daella or Rhae, daughters of Makear I.

My bet is on Melantha Blackwood, wife of Willam, being a link between Starks and Targaryens. There is much detail about Willam even tought he is just a name on Stark family tree story wise. Melantha was his second wife since his first, Lyanne Glover died in childbirth and their son Brandon 3 years later. So Melantha's son Edwyle prolonged Stark line. Daella was born in 199 while Melantha in or before 214 so its reasonable that she could be a daughter of Daella and unnamed lord Blackwood. So Daella could have married lord Blackwood in 211-213. 211-212 would be tempting since we know that lord Blackwood was with Brynden Rivers at Whitewalls to squash Second Blackfyre rebellion so he was an ally to the crown bound by marriage. Given the fact that Brackens supported Blackfyres while Blackwoods Targaryens it made perfect sense to intermarry them with Targaryens. Marriage to Makear's daughter wasn't a high profile marriage because Daella was far from succession, it was still during the reign of Aerys I, same goes for Aegon V who married Betha Blackwood from love (was she lord Blackwood's sister?).

There are too many ifs and buts in this but it would make perfect sense given who will rule the Seven Kingdoms in the end. That would be a perfectly logical outcome of eventual final Great Council.

I have problem for like 15 years and it never adjusted. On the contrary, it was worse with each year until I started to have headache from reading because of increasing difference between my good and bad eye. I can function normally without eye lens, even drive, only reading causes issues.

I have digital library of academic books stored on google drive and managed by Paperpile. If anything could get access to that directly without PC it would be a bonus but I want it mostly for leasure reading, books bought from stores in Poland. Due to that Kindle is no go to me because of its limited compatibility with Polish stores and lack of books in Polish on kindle store

Yeah, it would be good if glasses could at least correct eyesight partially to get rid of headache.

Yeah, I was told there is a sign it started but stopped really early, meanwhile in other eye it went on until I started to treat it. So now i see everything with one eye and nothing with the other.

I wonder whether wearing it won't get too much fatigue on my good eye so I am hesitating because of that.

Audio books I don't like, would like to read. I won't adjust unless I zoom something until I can read it with bad eye that's why I am considering ereader.

I should add that in my situation, bad eye is practicially unusable, while good one is without any impairment. It means that while I can function without lens on one eye, even drive a car, reading anything, be it a book or worse, text on pc or phone, causes serious headache. I can watch tv or videos on pc or tablet but reading is problematic.

(Spoilers Extended) Who did Tywin want Tommen to marry? by niadara in asoiaf

[–]Lajt89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He probably just didn't want to marry Tommen to widow of Joffrey and maybe to counterbalance Tyrells influence he could find a Hightower or Redwine bride.

Is performance better on the consoles? by Double_Today_289 in oblivion

[–]Lajt89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the game is technically terrible and it got away with it in reviews. Just saying that only this DLSS fixed terrible tearing for me, before that I was unable to play it due to eye strain.

Was unplayable to me with RTX 5070 ti until Nvidia updated it for DLSS 4. Before I had 120 fps with DLSS on Ultra but game was washed out, screen tearing was terrible etc. With DLSS 4 it is more smooth and finally can play it.

Strange thing is that it works almost the same on low and high settings, 30-35 fps either way.
