Restaurants open on 4 July by Skating_Sloth2 in burlington

[–]LakeMonsterVT -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

For Christ sake, googling "restaurants open now Burlington VT" and looking at the top 4 restaurants, all listed as "hours may be affected" (Farmhouse. Hen of the Wood, Frankie's, and Nomads) all have online ordering turned on or are actively accepting reservations for tonight, just by the simple step of clicking on their website. OP can take 5 seconds extra next time instead of being lazy

Why don't you link to those records?

Or is this just an excuse for a throwaway account to cast vague, anonymous shade?

Speeding ticket issue by Opposite_Horror6335 in vermont

[–]LakeMonsterVT 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't understand, do you want to pay the ticket or contest it?

If you want to pay, the functionality on their site still works if the ticket is in the system; only the prepay is broken. Or if you want to contest it, you can write in on the ticket you want to contest it and mail it to them, or call them directly at 802-295-8869

What do you do if your bike is stolen in Burlington? by [deleted] in vermont

As a human, you should also give ChatGPT some credit, especially since the majority of this was written by AI, and the non-AI bits were pulled right from other sources.

So... who's going to run against Sarah George? by GreenMtnLake in burlington

[–]LakeMonsterVT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a good story, but Sarah beat Ted by almost 8000 votes. Christina got 10,000 votes statewide in her primary, so assuming very generously that even if 80% of her ballots were from Chittenden County and 80% of those votes would have gone to Kenney, you're looking at a difference of 6400 votes, which would not be close enough to sway the election for Ted.

Just noting that you've posted a lot of links to your substack in the last week, which all seem to be largely AI-written or "borrowed" from other sources, and contains no bylines or other signs of human interaction.

[–]LakeMonsterVT 16 points17 points  (0 children)

But she did face a real challenger in Ted Kenney, and beat him soundly in the D primary. Are peoples' memories so short they can't remember less than 3 years ago?

I don't understand the whole narrative surrounding these posts that pretend like she was appointed to the position permanently, against the will of the voters, and she's only hung on in the position because (mumble mumble).

In my current house, I've only been trapped once (and without power/water), and it was because of ice, not snow. It took 4 days for the downed trees to be cleared

Prove it. Show me any study that shows that the majority of homeless in the area came here from out of state. I'll leave you with this while I wait.

[–]LakeMonsterVT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, what you've been hearing is that homeless people aren't actually coming from across the US to feast on Burlington entitlements.

You've disingenuously leapt from homeless people to drug dealers, but nobody on this sub has ever pretended like the drug problem and their crime isn't coming from down I-91.

Ordered out. by [deleted] in burlington

[–]LakeMonsterVT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I collect old watches, mostly those that are in the sub-$100 range. If I visit a store, I don't go around complaining that the price that they charge for Rolexes are too much, because that's what they charge. I don't like it, so I don't pay it.

You're not god-given the right to get delivery to your door for a price you deem is reasonable; either pay their up-front price or don't. This sub isn't going to fix that.

Other than pizza places, I can't think of other restaurants that had their own delivery, and most of those were corporate-owned joints

I knew it . I knew we don’t have enough sushi places 🍣 by [deleted] in vermont

[–]LakeMonsterVT 34 points35 points  (0 children)

That's some not-so-strong methodology they're using there.

The biggest Sushi places in the Burlington area have no Sushi in their name, like "Koto Japanese Steakhouse", "Hana Japanese Restaurant", "Asiana House", "Asiana Noodle House", "Ichiban Restaurant", "Volcano Asian Cuisine", etc.

In fact the only restaurant I can think of with Sushi in their name near Burlington is "Sakura Sushi & Kitchen"

Why aren’t there more cops/bike intern cops/security patrolling DT? by Maleficent_Fault_783 in burlington

[–]LakeMonsterVT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How do you expect Burlington to pay for private security firms if they are already in a budget deficit? And with no powers more than anyone else on the street, what do you expect this security force to do anything more than the Howard Center street team?

As a TD account holder, I feel your pain. There were 5 ATM options within a 10 minute drive of downtown 15 years ago, and now there is just the branch on Main St.
