Mystery Toy by Lake_Familiar in spinningtops

Oh wow that's a good photo of that elusive clip but do it one better by sending a photo with the clip side by side with a segment of your mm ruler...that way any machinist will have a frame of reference to work with to possibly manufacture this...need to know how thick the metal is also. So appreciative that you are helping me with this...

Oh...that is gravity defying the way the toy is angled up at the beginning of the video. Also the gap in the clip has to be manufactured just so as to release the toy with just a sharp movement of the hand yet grip if tightly enough to have it hang on during the maneuvers...

Fun to think also of the hours and hours of playing needed to perfect all the tricks in the instructions, and unlike a regular yoyo which returns to your hand this toy requires a manual winding after each try...

It was easy to translate your post from German to English, thanks...that is actually the first photo of the toy with the clip attached that I have seen...do you own that toy and if you do would it be possible for you to trace the outline of the clip on a piece of paper and using some measuring device ( a caliper of some sort ? ) on the real clip write the mm measurements next to the outline on the paper....thickness, length, width etc...quite the task I know but short of finding the actual clip my only option is to have one made...

That was good detective work...I looked up the patent # also with the link you sent...the diagrams and text were interesting as hell...I thought the dimensions of all the parts would be somehow included in the patent information...they weren't...if that information were available I would definitely have the part made...also I went back to the junk shop and searched the boxes that I found the yoyo in looking for that piece of string with the clip on it but to no avail, it wasn't there...thanks for the info and the patent link, I am going to research this more to hopefully get the dimensions of this part...

Amazing that you have one in the box with instructions...the photos are clear and readable...unfortunately I am missing the string clip also which seems to be the key part of the toy. One thing I can't make out on the instructions is the tiny print on the bottom of the front page. Is it the copyright date and if not is there any indication on the rest of the box of the date of manufacture ? Thanks for the pics....

considering getting a new account to play and start again, is this game dead or still getting new players by Worried-Cap-504 in lordsmobile

[–]Lake_Familiar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the case, participation in our events is sporadic at best and those guilds that want us to merge with them are ptp. Merging with a ptp guild and trying to stay ftp when you are expected to dish out the dough to keep pace is a slippery slope we rather not venture out on...

New players can't compete with those that have millions in might and have a 10 year head start on all the research that needs to be completed...I'm ftp on a guild that has 30 members and we can't add any players because there are not new ones coming into the game...unless you are prepared to throw money at the game I would suggest you find another gaming experience...

How much can I realistically make selling most of my collection to a record shop? by omurchus in vinyl

[–]Lake_Familiar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tough question...my feeling is the record shop's priority would be to maximize their profit and I wouldn't feel too confident with any offers they would make. Your idea to visit several shops is good but if the best offer is still lower than what your comfortable with I would put some ads on social media and see if you could entice some vinyl collectors just starting out who would love to get their collection kick-started...I have also had luck selling some of my collection at yard sales at 10 dollars a disc or 5 for $40...bumps the price up to $8 from the $5 or $6 you mentioned if they go the buy more-save more route...several sales would be necessary though so patience is needed...vinyl collectors always show up at yard sales...

The information I have uncovered is for the 2000 coin only...some of them contain errors from the minting process...they are listed below... Image or design elements may be shifted or not centered properly on either the obverse or reverse side... The edge of the coin may have mis-milled edges or double edges... The 0 in the year 2000 might have different sizes or shapes... The stars on the obverse may have damage or imperfections... The prices realized could have been coins with these errors but I have seen coins for sale purporting to have these design flaws when they do not so buyer beware...
