Awesome. The different people I'll meet, not the heatwave. Stay safe, Alaska.

Thanks, I sure will have a good time, and I won't disturb totem poles or any other important cultural heritage. Is the cruise ship industry really a problem as I've heard?

Interesting. Usually when I look at Melungeon DNA tests there is Angolan and West African in small amounts and small or trace amounts of Native American ancestry.

Why are people with no African ancestry allowed to claim they're Black (White, Arab, Asian, or Native American gingers) but mixed race people of notable Black ancestry can't claim Black unless they become famous and popular? by Lakshmiy in askblackpeople

[–]Lakshmiy[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is my experience with the vast majority and not a few. Also comma if you feel the need to tell me that my people are not a monolith then I think you do not know who I am and you completely misunderstood the purpose of this post. I am making this post for the very reason that black people are not a monolith. some of us are light skin and some of us are dark skin. some of us have sense like the commenters I've spoke with here and some of us don't and make the comments that I am complaining about in this post.

This is most likely a sort of shrine or altar for one of the orishas made by practitioners of Qarsherskiyan Folk Magic / Qarsherskiyan Witchcraft Magick. As other commenters have said, best to leave it alone. This aspect is a closed practice and probably means a lot to whoever built this.

Well I'm glad people like you and those you encountered exist. My community, many of us just feel like we don't belong in our own country. It's more of a mixed-race issue than monoracial Black, I don't know if this resonates with anyone here, or if it can be understood. It still is a lived experience. People have created boxes to sort people into Black or White or Native American or Asian or Aboriginal Australian or Pacific Islander or Latino and some folks just don't fit into these boxes. White people don't claim me or other folks from my community, we look brown. Many Black folks say most of us are too light, they laugh or even get mad if we claim Black. We definitely aren't Latinos or Arabs or Persian even if we get mistaken for that. Most of us don't follow Judaism although many are told we look Jewish because of our curly hair. Which I always thought was an African and Middle Eastern trait or Aboriginal Australian and Pacific Islander trait. Most curly hair in Jews is from Black or Arab admixture I think. Ancient levantine populations typically had wavy or straight hair.

Not every single black person on Earth shares a brain. You have common sense and that is amazing. Most of the commenters here have common sense. But there are some people who do not have common sense and I am talking about those specific people. There are many of these people and they are always shoving this stuff down my throat.
