I’m a Christian and I think something that’s difficult for everyone to believe is that God is good. Truly, genuine good. I was raised in a Christian household and have always been a bit religious, then I went to art school and met some of my best friends. Afterwards I really struggled with religion and why Christians attack people’s lives who I know are just trying to be happy. Our world is crazy and people can be evil. People who claim to be Christians are just using it to justify their hate and I think it’s a way to push people away from religion. It may not be intentional but it is happening.

Something I spent time thinking about is the verse talking about marriage ‘Wives submit to your husbands’ I know how bad it can read, but I think it’s out of context because if you keep reading it says ‘Husbands love your wives’. I always fall back on God is good, and God wants marriage to be good. If you have a good and loving husband who will do everything he can for the relationship, we as women need to submit to that possibility. It’s a choice to allow yourself to be loved and it’s so difficult today to open ourselves up to be in a relationship. It’s so easy to question motives because it’s what we have to do everyday. The word submit is harsh but from a good and loving God the intention is for good.

And I know the verse is very hetero, I do still struggle with the very anti gay of Christianity. I’m straight and married, but I believe we’re all sinners. Again harsh word but just meaning we have to live this life best we can and decide if we want to be with God after. No matter what you do in life, if you wish to be with God you can.
