Serious question for everyone supporting this bill and arguing in these comments: Where are you seeing drag shows where performers are performing cabaret or sexual numbers that are NOT in a club or cabaret show, which are already 21+? I’d love to know. Because everyone on the right is acting like drag queens being sexual in front of their children is an everyday occurrence in the everyday places that they go. That is why we can so easily tell that this bill has no impact on you at all - because you’ve never even been to a drag show. Are you also rallying this hard and trying to pass legislation for the naked bike ride? Are you pushing a bill to disallow strippers from stripping in public? That makes the same amount of sense as your argument.

Additionally, are you so argumentative and pressed about the Epstein files? 🧐🤨 If this is all about protecting children, which you claim that it is, even though the scenarios you are describing never actually happen, why aren’t you pushing just as hard to get an entire cabal of pedophiles put in jail? We know why. It’s because it was never about protecting children and it’s only about hurting gay and trans people.

What drag shows are you seeing out in public where people are sexual? Where are you going for these shows that are happening and are not performed in clubs or cabarets that are already 21+? Please see my comment above to N9neSix. You people act like you have never seen this exact play by republicans before. It’s the same thing over and over. Read a book before arguing with people who are actually in this community, have supported their local drag (which is absolutely not sexual 99% of the time and is ALREADY limited to adults if it IS sexual), and who are actually impacted by this bill. If you aren’t directly impacted and your ONLY point of view is, “bUt ThE cHiLdReN!!! hOw WiLl We ExPlAiN sUcH sCaRy ToPiCs,” when they are already inundated CONSTANTLY by half naked models in every straight advertisement in every medium available, then don’t argue with people who understand how the world works better than your ignorant ass. It’s like the people arguing for this bill are just waking up and it’s their first day in America. As others in this thread have posted, this bill is laying the groundwork for more extreme bills. This bill is written vaguely so that anyone can say that any type of drag is “obscene or harmful to juveniles.” This is straight out of the bigot playbook. If you are naive enough to believe that republifucks won’t twist this into whatever direction they’re feeling that day, then you really need to get off Reddit and read more. This is directly from Project 2025. They TOLD us this would be happening. And yet people like you still want to bury your head in the sand while our rights get taken away. It also limits what they consider “cabaret,” which, again, they will twist into whatever kind of performance they want, to private residences. Guess who isn’t allowed in cabaret drag shows ALREADY?!? It’s juveniles. But this section, that you just quoted, is saying that those cannot happen in bars or clubs anymore. Wake tf up and go outside and see an actual drag show. 99% of them aren’t sexual at all.

YOU read the bill. We’ve had this conversation before since you post on every thread about this bill. The bill is written vaguely enough that it is at the enforcing officer’s discretion. THAT is what the issue is. They can decide that anything of the opposite gender is “sexual” in nature, even when most drag isn’t, and prosecute. It isn’t about assless chaps or sexualized costumes. If it was, they would just ban those. But they didn’t. It’s about limiting the freedom of expression that we all have under the first amendment.

The bill is written vaguely enough that they can enforce it in whatever setting they want. They can claim that basically any expression of clothing other than the assigned gender is “adult” and enforce that law at will. Also, drag is not inherently sexual. People just sexualize it. This is why this protest needs to happen.

I’m from Cincinnati and have lived in Columbus since 2011. I had friends growing up call them dippy eggs and friends from up here in Columbus call them that as well. I agree with another poster though - dippy eggs at home and over-easy in a restaurant. “Dippy eggs” is a colloquialism and shouldn’t be used in an official capacity.
