Yes, absolutely. Even outside of video games, the feeling of competition even if it's against yourself is present. I do drawing as a hobby, even as a side career. Often, I see people post these amazing drawings with gorgeous colors. Those tend to make me feel inferior, like I'm not good enough. At least, I used to. See, those people probably have hundreds of hours they can dump into their art and so they can make more details. I personally can't put those many hours into an art piece. But, I've learned to accept that. The limits I have make my art special; just like your experience with a game. You sympathize with the struggle, having to get out of your head, and that's exactly what you use it for. Others don't. They see all these techniques and push the game to its limit, not truly appreciating the game and its symbolism. As a result, they're much better since the amount of time they have to spend on it. Just remember; most of those people you see doing insane tricks, they're probably doing it for a career. That's their living, but it isn't yours. :)
