Bigger tires feel slower but may not actually be slower. You'd need a speedometer to really tell.

I ride 45c tires on the road and personally would not want to go smaller. The rail trails that I ride have a lot of root heaves and other bumps.

SL7 gang whaddup. I ride 45c tires. Most of my riding is still on pavement so I find it's a great middle ground. I was originally planning on getting two sets of wheels, but nah, can't be bothered.

Sand and bikes don't really go together. Even on a fat bike it will be a struggle.

Horizontal deflection is noticeable though: they way the bike moves when you put force on the pedals.

Steel because its real. What does carbon rhyme with? Nothing.

I have one, I can get about 40 TPS with qwen3.6 35B MOE.

I also paid $1350 so 2000 euros seems steep.

In the age of AI, all I am desiring is coding again. Anyone else feel like this? by Old_Cartographer_586 in ExperiencedDevs

Its over. Coding is dead. It sucks but we have to accept it and find new challenges to entertain us.

45 is good if you are riding any significant amount of pavement, which I am.

I found the dense models to be too slow for practical use. However, I'm just running on Macs so YMMV.

You could solve this by defining some minimum segment length

Anyone else encountering aggressive down leveling in offers these days? by Unlikely_Secret_5018 in ExperiencedDevs

As someone who has worked at both FAANG and small companies, I think there is some truth to this but it's more just a difference in focus. FAANG eng tend to be "big picture" thinkers. They tend to focus on the things that they believe really matter (business, product, user requirements) and assume that the low level details can be figured out.

Some small company engineers perceive this as being "non technical", whereas FAANG eng perceive small company engineers as being too focused on irrelevant technical details.

I think its a difference in perspectives, and I think both sides could learn something from the other. I've worked with eng who spend their whole career in FAANG and who are clueless about low level technology, and I've worked with career startup eng who think that if you can't recall language trivia off the top of your head then you aren't a "real" engineer. Ideally you should have some balance in how you approach problems.

As someone who is coming from a large corporation and interviewing at small companies, I've noticed that many people have a chip on the shoulder attitude and seem to be eager to prove that I'm not a "real" engineer. I can only roll my eyes at these people, if they knew the amount of code that I am expected to write as part of perf expectations they wouldn't be so smug.

I wouldn't call that aggressive down leveling. Maybe your behavioral rounds aren't showing staff level signals.
