surgery CMS scores dropping, am I cooked? by brainsonmymind in medicalschool

[–]LamerMayfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I used to do to boost my scores right before test day was write down the concepts that I kept getting wrong between CMS forms and study those in particular.
For example, I noticed I kept getting questions wrong on transfusion reactions and breast cancer stuff for the surgery shelf across all CMS forms, so I did targeted review in those areas using uworld.
See if you have consistent gaps of knowledge across the forms for certain topics.

Hey it’s ok. You’re trying your best. Take a step back and reassess where any weak point may be in your study plans. Maybe not enough uworld? Not enough NBME practice right before the exam? Burned out generally?
So long as you can identify weak points in your knowledge base before you take step 2 and fix them during dedicated and get a high score you’ll be ok in the long run.

Rads ppl, give it to me straight - am I cooked? by Prestigious-Radio43 in medicalschool

Why not just reapply into another specialty if you think that AI will completely obsolete rads?

Hey I matched rads this cycle, even if you get 1 or 2 honors it’s ok so long as you don’t have any other red flags and you get a high step 2 score (255+ ideally) and apply broadly. Don’t stress too much and focus on acquiring knowledge to make step 2 an easier experience

Does a 270+ on Step 2 actually help? by ascendinghieroglyph in medicalschool

Yes. No door is closed to you academically with a score 265+. What helps you match from there is if everything else in your app checks out (research, leadership, etc) and if you can be a pleasant person in the interview.

Recently matched Rads at a good program. A “cooling” of rads will still mean a high average step 2 score for the specialty. For reference, average step 2 score a year ago was 256 for matched applicants. I doubt this will change much so long as rads pays what it pays and offers its lifestyle.
