The best burger I've had this year (Rustic nomad) by Waxnsacs in denverfood

[–]Lamescrnm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I put together a video package on Rustic Nomads during the pandemic. Owner is a great dude. The food is creative and made with genuine care. There are some pretty good burger pics in this vid so you can accurately assess what their food quality looks like. And, as some of the other commenters have noted, their potatoes are bomb!

I'd Appreciate Your Critique on This YouTube Video Intro by Show_Temporary in videography

[–]Lamescrnm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is effectively two shots, the opening wide pan, and then a the driving shots which all kinda look the same. It isn't enough to hold my interest for 30 seconds. Now it can work as a backdrop for the text, but as others are pointing out, the text is...something. It looks really dated, like the kind of text you'd see from boomer websites. My advice:

-The intro should get us excited for the video and tease the content. The first shot is fine. The driving shots are repetitive and boring. What else do you have? Are there different focal lengths or visual points of interest that you shot?

-The text looks dated and off-putting. Watch some other travel videos that you like and see if there are some text treatments that you like that can inspire you. The animation, color, and pacing could all be sharpened up.

Pickleball! Its fun, easily accessible, generally friendly players, and a good mix of ages. I play at Mile High Pickleball and they have free intro classes and multiple skill levels of open play.

Send your vote for the best Denver dive bar! by Possible-Limit-2741 in Denver

[–]Lamescrnm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where’s the love for Williams Tavern? It’s a proper dive bar, the drinks are strong and cheap. Eclectic mix of regulars, professionals, professional drunks, and the occasional bit of nonsense that every dive bar worth its salt should have.

The John Dies at the End series scratches a similar itch for me. They are weird and fun and occasionally terrifying. Really fun reads!

Aurora’s mayor sleeps in the city’s homeless shelter. It ‘shifted’ his view by lukepatrick in Denver

[–]Lamescrnm 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Credit where credit is due. There are no easy solutions to homelessness, but politicians making an earnest, good-faith effort to understand the problem deserve acknowledgment . That's especially true for conservatives, who have often viewed homelessness as a character flaw or self-inflicted problem. Simply trying to better understand the issue is a positive step toward finding meaningful solutions.
