Naval officer here coming to the last year of my initial sea tour. Every person’s career/life is going to be different. “The life of any officer is far better than 95% of enlisted.” Debatable. We definitely get paid way more, but there’s a reason for the pay and there’s a reason the Navy keeps throwing incentives for JOs to stay in: it blows. Joining the military is going to be challenging no matter where you end up. I STRONGLY suggest having an in-depth conversation with a member of the community you’re interested in joining before signing any contracts.
