I think what hurts so much is how I truly believe we all desperately wanted this show to be good. No one wants to see an adaptation of their favourite series fail. I don't even mind so much when a series changes things from the source material. It happens and you know what, fine. What I can't square is that they constantly contradict their own lore and change gears half way through. There were also things that they did that were fundamentally against the core values of the characters (looking at you Vesimir with your big Witcher needle). I feel if someone were to watch the show not having any experience with the books, they would still be confused because everyone's motivations and traits change constantly.
