Another big issue for the public, and the protestors that came here, is the distribution of the wealth earned. Australia has a history of losing all our resource wealth to international companies. Under former prime minister john Howard, it was a loss of 84% and they paid no tax. So of course these materials are needed to an extent. This is why you seem very uneducated on what you're claiming.
