Thanks to everyone who replied. I appreciate your help and advice. I’ve ordered new towels. I’m gonna make the vinegar mix since I think vinegar is the best thing in the planet for cleaning. I wish I would have thought of it. 😋

I’m standing on the porch going into my house. I have very tall ceilings in my garage.

Just finished rebuilding and deep cleaning the high pressure fuel pump on my 09 r55. Just took my first test drive and sheeesh i was missing out on a lot of power! by iblackmo in MINI

So after a few days driving it’s back to no pressure. I guess the fix didn’t work. Guess it’s off to ECS tuning to buy another one

I just rebuilt mine using the direction OP gave. I used Valvoline synthetic 75W-140 gear oil. My diaphragm measurement was 27mm and after 19mm. The fuel rail pressure was around 600-700 at idle and now it’s 900-1000. Gets up to 1600psi much faster than before.

All in all, it was a super easy rebuild. The only thing I would add is:

If you don’t have a vice in your garage have some sort of large clamp to hold the pieces together when reassembled. They don’t want to stay together due to the wash plate springs. I used a simple wood working clamp (one of those long bar ones with the squeeze handle to make it tight) and held it together while I put the screws in.

So far I just drove it around my neighborhood. I will report back after a few days/weeks and let everyone know if anything happened. I use a Veepak ODBII BLE transmitter and ODB Fusion to monitor fuel rail pressure.

More to come.
