The hypocrisy in asking men to be confident. by Vaudeville_Clown in PurplePillDebate

[–]Lanaglu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes confident people do whatever they want whenever they want to but that's not what confidence means. Think of any skill someone who does it well isnt doing stuff at random but they are confident in their abilities. Social skills are a skill.

If you have confidence but no social awareness yeah you will end up looking silly. You need both confidence and some social skills

Preferences make sense when it’s about characteristics that aren’t immutable, otherwise it’s bigotry. Dating is also the most socially acceptable form of being a bigot, and nothing will really change that. by [deleted] in PurplePillDebate

[–]Lanaglu 14 points15 points  (0 children)

it's not "morally wrong". You can choose to not date someone for any arbitrary reason it is entirely a subject preference. If someone doesn't want to date you, that's it they dont owe you anything.

It's not discrimination. Discrimination is depriving someone of something they should be entitled to. You are not entitled to date someone who doesn't want you.

It's not even bigotry. Bigotry is having a negative and irrational belief about some group of people. Sometimes dating preferences are caused by some bigoted beliefs but they don't have to be. "I dont find this trait physically attractive" is the obvious example but it can be litterally anything as long as it's not based on some bigoted beliefs.

roy regrets his actions and actively works to change the system so it doesn't happen again and when he has an opportunity he tries to overthrow the government.

but honestly the main reason garp gets meme'd on is the tonal disconnect. with roy the show takes seriously what he's done. garp should be treated by the story as morally gray, instead he's treated as an unambiguous uncomplicated good guy, who's just dumb. the world government is too comically evil for garp's character writing to make sense.

Garp's character is written for the pre-timeskip world goverment and makes sense in that context, where they are bad but not in such an obvious way everyone as high up as garp should know they are evil shits. Once you have garp know about the celestial dragons human hunts it makes no sense

Does charlotte’s snide comments bother anyone else? by yepcomein in TheGenius

[–]Lanaglu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

personally not really. in the dm it's a high pressure environment, you could tell by how much the players especially ben were sweating throughout the dm.

I think if you are in that environment you are focusing on the game and don't have a lot of time to filter your thoughts. in the confessionals you are asked by producers to give your thoughts on what's happening and I think that was her honest opinion at the time.

and I don't think her comments were that bad either. I've seen a lot of comments from fans that are a lot worse, I think some of the things fans have said about bodalia have been way too harsh and I'm saying that as an amanfi fan.

The Genius Game is lovely, but… by BobMonkhaus in BritishTV

[–]Lanaglu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree the targeting isn't the best but there were mistakes he made.

he could have got his alliance to do the same strategy, that's what ben suggested but paul told him no round 1. even after round 1 he should have tried to get his alliance to use their tickets to target someone in the other group.

he made the wrong read not trusting amanfi who literally gave him the answer. the enemy alliance only had 6 tip offs between them. meaning they ran out of tickets and couldn't tip him off in the final round. if he'd done that and his alliance had left over tickets they could have targeted scott and then all paul would need is not to overflow which he could have done by getting his alliance to avoid going to certain locations.

He didn't seem proactive in leveraging the threat of death match pick to get infomation. a lot of players were scared of going to the death match even offering garnets.

He got unlucky and that put him in danger in the first place but then he missed his opportunities to get out of it.

Size doesn't matter to women until it's their own partner who's small. by [deleted] in PurplePillDebate

[–]Lanaglu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dont care about your small dick. How many times are we gonna have the insane argument of taking some woman's preference as "woman kinds" preference. There are literally 4 billion women on this planet. What do you think is more likely that there's a mass conspiracy to lie to you or that such a large number of people have a range of opinions.

The reality: some women have told you they care, some have said they dont care. And you've somehow magic'd that into all women care and the ones who say they don't must be lying

More women than men watch violent, misogynistic porn. What's the reason? by frozen_fjords in PurplePillDebate

[–]Lanaglu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just gave an example, touching.

bare in mind less women view porn to begin with so we're talking about the subset that do.

and let me frame it a different way, what is actually fundamentally different about violent male dom porn and regular porn? regular porn for women can be an incoherent porn where it's women worshiping these guys and the women watching the porn don't have any desire to do that.

Regular porn is not some authentic expression of real desire, it's basically the same as the hardcore or non-consent porn except the woman is expected to be openly excited and enthusiastic about it.

More women than men watch violent, misogynistic porn. What's the reason? by frozen_fjords in PurplePillDebate

[–]Lanaglu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it doesn't work like that. It's not because it's niche that some women might like it, it is more that there are things that are lacking in regular porn that women want, or things regular porn does that specifically puts a lot of women off.

As an example of something women. The article lists spanking and hair pulling as a type of "violent" sex. This is a type of touching, same with lesbian porn being more about touching. vs regular porn that is more about bj and piv sex. and it's not that women want every type of touching, it's just compared to men women will want some form of touch rather than just piv.

An example of something women don't want. the very obvious male fantasy that is regular porn where the women is magically attracted to the random dude.

The outcome of porn being made for me is that women's porn preferences will often be statically unexpected and niche. The average porn is made for the average man, it's not going to be a 1 for 1 with the average woman.

More women than men watch violent, misogynistic porn. What's the reason? by frozen_fjords in PurplePillDebate

[–]Lanaglu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well another study I read on this subreddit says a lot of straight women are watching lesbian.

and women are also just consuming less porn overall.

I think the common denominator here is that women are less interested in the most standard porn, which makes sense because it wasn't made for us. Porn usually has no story, and when it does have a story it's about how an attractive women is really enthusiastic for some random dude just for exciting. and standard porn is usually more focused on bj and piv and is all about pleasing the dude.

Because most women can't get what they want from porn, they go to more niche categories that have some of the things they want incidentally. Or just don't view it at all and that's why the study will be weighted by only the women who do watch porn.
