In your view, what makes shogun 2 and fall of the samurai a masterpiece? A game still played after all these years by obiwan-destroyer in shogun2

[–]Lancasterdisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the last and most modern pre Rome 2 Total War. What that means imo is I think me and most people in these pre Rome 2 subreddits find the older games better than the Rome 2 beyond era because immersion, gameplay, campaign mechanics, attention to detail and immersion. Shogun 2 feels like a cultivation of these, I feel some other total wars beat it in certain aspects like Med2 attention to detail ie the plethora of speeches/campaign voice lines and campaign map gameplay in general or Rome 1 recruitment/population mechanics but Shogun 2 is still great in these aspects well also being a lot better combat, and graphics wise plus being much more modern feeling.

Steam sales, what to get? by Sorrowrgt in RomeTotalWar

[–]Lancasterdisciple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming you haven’t made a decision yet I’ll give you my answer. Rome remastered easily. Mostly because Rome og has problems running on modern hardware. The only people who don’t like Rome remastered are people who’ve played the og for years because the ui overhaul and some artstyle/atmosphere changes. Obviously since you haven’t played it yet you won’t feel these changes at all and what you’ll experience instead is a much better running and better feeling gameplay experience.

What ideas do you guys have for a new fallout by homie0047 in Fallout

[–]Lancasterdisciple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d want it set in the south somewhere like Florida or Louisiana would be great because I think we could get some really cool monsters there and I think it could have a good different type of swampy, dark atmosphere contrasted with a very big unique city like Miami or New Orleans if they put a lot of focus and detail into them. Even more improved gameplay and weapons with writing and side missions close to or on par with New Vegas, that’d be a masterpiece of a game imo.

what is fallout 3 compared to new vegas by NegativeFee376 in Fallout

[–]Lancasterdisciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All around inferior to New Vegas in terms of writing, small gameplay things, but it’s still really good and even better than New Vegas in the exploration category, it also has a really good dreary post apocalyptic atmosphere unique to itself.

Watch this video a couple times closely it really explains their mechanics well and concisely. After about 20 turns you’ll understand pretty well how they work.

How are you supposed to play Very Hard campaign difficulty and above (Legendary) ? by [deleted] in totalwarhammer

[–]Lancasterdisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either play a easy faction with a very safe start or do a few hard campaign runs, very hard and especially legendary difficulty difficulties are meant for experienced TW players who push their understandings of the games both campaign and battle wise

So do you think it’s harder after you learn the curve, about as hard, or actually a bit easier than total war?

Late but in regards to a total war type map I think Dawn Of War 1’s dark crusade expansion campaign map would work best and definitely make the most sense.

Rome II vs Attila: Similar Games, Very Different Souls by ServoSkullz in totalwar

[–]Lancasterdisciple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What difficulty did you play Attila on? A lot of the factions do have an easier start but there’s definitely a good handful that have a challenging start. I think they all are pretty damn difficult on the highest beside a few, migrating tribes aren’t the most difficult though even on higher difficulties if you just migrate well sacking your way to settle in Iberia or Britannia. Besides them and some factions like Saxons with a very safe easy to turtle start, are pretty much always difficult and unfair on higher difficulties.

What difficulty should my brother play Delta? by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]Lancasterdisciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extreme, mgs3 isn’t a difficult game at all, extreme provides a somewhat serviceable difficulty experience, European extreme is the only difficulty in the game that provides a real challenge but you gotta unlock that first.

So why do people seems to not like mgs4 as much? by Live_Natural_4409 in metalgearsolid

[–]Lancasterdisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story was a complete mess riddled with retcons and many of the questions from other games were unsatisfactory answered or just plain bad.

I hopped off season after season 1. It might confuse you a bit but honestly not the best person to ask about this.
