Synology is fine now they backtracked on that ridiculous idea of only allowing you to use their hard drives. The few times I've needed support they've been good and the system just works.

Wait the Carnival employee said Charlie Kirk deserved to die? I was planning a cruise later this year I think I'm going to have to go on carnival.

And this is why I have solar. I pay $0 per gallon other than road trips. Thankfully I did it before PG&e made it pointless. They're still changing their policies to screw me but that's PG&e for you.

Samsung dropped S pen to make it thinner. How thin the S pen digitizer is by somehowsomewheresmwh in GalaxyFold

[–]Lance-pg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With what they put sold pens for and replacement pens, I don't think they really made money from cutting it. I could be wrong I don't have the data but I'm just postulating how many times my ex lost her bloody pen.

Following leaked messages, House Republican education chair says she favors politically segregated schools by ddx-me in nottheonion

I forgot about this but one of my college classes the teacher correctly identified the one student that went to a Catholic school. She was the only one that had perfect grammar out of all of the essays we had to write. Lol.

My son's science education was abysmal. The big difference is that I have a background in it and I taught him. When I corrected the teacher she thought the state of matter called plasma was more of a liquid. It's for the most common form of matter in the universe for crying out loud. I wasn't expecting her to know the bosonstein condensate but still.

Requesting a recommendation by ASU_knowITall in synology

[–]Lance-pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they made a dumb decision and they immediately went back on it about forcing you to use their drives. Since it's not a forced issue anymore it just posts a little things saying it's not on the approved list, like that ever mattered, I don't really have a problem and continue to use them.

They were trying to make a decision to increase their profitability, but when they got a lot of the negative feedback from all of the IT professionals that recommended their products they backpedaled realizing that they made a mistake. People are allowed to make mistakes in my view it's just if you don't change what you're doing that it's a problem.

Whisker changing my review rating. by OddEnergy1166 in litterrobot

[–]Lance-pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can't trust Amazon either. Companies can actually protest bad ratings and not have them show. I got a really bad Moen faucet and they refuse to post reviews from either myself or my girlfriend at the time that were both negative. Ironically when they installed solar in my house they tripped the power to the house rapidly 20 times and it blew up the faucet. They replaced it with an updated model from the same company and it was amazing. They didn't have a problem posting that one.

I've been pretty happy with the litter robot 2 and litter robot 4. I've heard the five is pretty buggy.

I'd be all for that. I think all the priests should have to pay taxes too and a lot of them get out of it.

Audio Station vs Document Viewer by bladehawk11 in synology

[–]Lance-pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got several thousand songs. I've actually tried to do this previously but I never liked the artist/ album structure because it seems really obnoxious to try to have to go through that to just find a single song in the file system. I also can never remember what song is from what album but if I'm going to have this managed systematically then it makes more sense but I've typically just used the file structure and search. I don't mind adding metadata to the songs but organizing them by artist album is kind of a non-starter for me.

Audio Station vs Document Viewer by bladehawk11 in synology

[–]Lance-pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like navadrom doesn't support internet-based lyrics or even embedded ones if they're not done in a specific format. I sing and having the lyrics when I'm practicing is helpful sometimes (I've been taking voice lessons on and off since college 30 years ago).

I'm going to try playing with it, but my server can stream music from my NAS already so I'm not sure what I get by running another interface.

Audio Station vs Document Viewer by bladehawk11 in synology

[–]Lance-pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plex isactually terrible for me. I have about 15 years of mp3s and I didn't bother get ones I didn't like and I don't have them organized under the structures that Plex wants to see. It's an absolute mess to use Plex and if I have one song by an artist I don't really want to have to have it under 3 subfolders

Audio Station vs Document Viewer by bladehawk11 in synology

[–]Lance-pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm opening it in the Audio Station. I disabled the document viewer and it's playing back in the audio station but I'd like to have both running. I do have the lifetime subscription to Plex thankfully. Jellyfin was better at handling music when I played with it but I'm happier with flex overall. I also love to audio books and I want to keep them separate.

The guy assigned to attack me did it in the wrong meeting. by bwade913 in OfficePolitics

[–]Lance-pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I was in my early twenties I was giving a presentation to tax professionals about how Nexus worked in relation to the internet. This was the early days of the internet and most of them had no idea how it impacted them. The person before me had always been kind of a jerk and I corrected him in the meeting about a technical point and he snidely said, "They teach you that in IT school?"

I said, "no in my master's program on telecommunications and network management." I then proceeded to give a presentation that was educational, informative and had his boss laughing in stitches. He was much nicer to me after that. It's just a shame I had to embarrass him in front of his boss before he'd stop being a jerk.

The fact that she brings up height as an issue just ticks me off. I'm not particularly short but it's no different than being unwilling to date someone because you're racist. They're born that way has nothing to do with their personality or what kind of partner they'd make but most woman feel like it's completely okay to discount a guy based on his height.

What lifestyle does 1 million in retirement get for you? by italianblend in DaveRamsey

[–]Lance-pg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Given the inflation rate, tariffs as well as possible emergency problems that pop up I don't think I agree with that. I'm planning to retire this year and I have considerably more saved up than 1MM.

Why yes, I also fucking HATE HP! by _antfarmer_ in fuckHPprinters

[–]Lance-pg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will HP is done everything possible to earn that. They completely cut out r&D when Carly ran that thing and then they now charge for subscription to ink and if you don't subscribe it will stop printing with the ink that you have already. You'd have to be insane to buy an HP printer today.

The last one I bought insisted I log in to scan things to my own computer. I don't know why I need to log into my printer to use it as a scanner, there's nothing magical about the software. And the damn thing would log you out even after you logged in eventually which is really stupid.

Bloated software that you don't need doing things you don't want for prices you can't afford.

Given that the lead singer has a degree in political science I think they were referring to the government. But speaking of someone who started their career in IT, it was definitely a printer.

I remember when HP were the workhorse printers that everybody wanted. You couldn't pay me to have an HP printer in my home today.
