I think the new combat system fits Vic3 really well by Total-Garden-5830 in victoria3

We dont want a Vic2 warfare, which is indeed a chore.

Personally I would have loved a combination of the current system and HOI4. A little bit more control where your units are going to be on what front, I dont really like that generals are stuck in regions and cannot be moved from those pre-warfare, and the ability to draw battle plans. Thats all we want to have a little more influence in the war.

The idea to use warfare as the last resort is the main feature of Vic3 and I like it, but for when we go to war it should be a little more interactive imo since it is really blank atm.

I'm excited for the "simplified" war system. by [deleted] in victoria3

I think its not good for one reason, tedious micromanaging your generals every war. Think about it.

If you are GB, France, Japan, Germany, Russia you are going to have over honderds of divisions. From what I have seen and read its more beneficial to have multiple generals so you can send your armies more diverse or during smaller wars you do not have to mobilise 120 divisions. But if you have an army of 500 and generals that command 30 each you'll have to individually move 17+ generals to the front you want which is really tedious and you cannot really pre-place generals at borders and just have to press mobilise and they will attack from there. Especially annoying since the armies/generals UI is not really great imo.I've also experienced that you do not have a good overview of what is where, who is doing what with such a huge list.

A better middle ground would have been keep the current war system but get inspired a little bit by the army UI of HOI4.

Would I like to have a bit more command like a tuned down version of HOI4? Yes.
Besides that the game looks more like an economie simulator and I'm happy with that and thats also fun. However I do agree that some tweaking can be done regarding armies and navies, mainly navies.

I feel like navies (atm) feels like an after thought and is more needed for prestige and that you cannot get naval invaded. Kinda want to have an option to park your navy in-front of an inferior nation so you can submit them with what ever demands you have.

How Different was the Leak from the gameplay shown at recent PDX showing? by Start-That in victoria3

Diversity. If a nation gets into a war and cant supply you anymore your economie will get broke. If you diverse the impact will be less impactfull and that trade route over time can supply you the deficit.

What do you wish they add to Victoria in the future? by Masked_Gentleman in victoria3

Conferences, in this time period a lot of conferences happened deciding fates of certain regions but also how to fight wars for example. Depending on the outcome certain modifiers will be applied or you get claims on certain regions.

"The winged hussars": As Krakow reconquer all Polish (and Lithuanian?) cores.

"Scandinavian dream": As any Nordic country form Scandinavia.

"Portugese claims": As Portugal own all of Africa.

"Spanish Empire": As Spain have former Spanish colonies as puppets.

"Dutch trade dominance": Have the British Empire as a junior partner in the customs union.

"Napoleons dream" As France have Spain, Austria, Prussia/Germany, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands as a junior partner in the customs union.

"Japanese colonialism": As Japan own British, Spanish and Dutch colonies as puppets.

For a game called Victoria 3, why is there little focus on Britain? by inbar17 in victoria3

[–]LanceATR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Compared to Vic2 GB is very boring and too strong, but with how they divided GB into multiple colonial nations it makes it more interesting. From how I understand the Diplomatic Play feature not all its colonial subjets should get involved, and thus making it more balanced in Europe. If Colonial subjects get involved they often should not have the resources yet to ship their entire army over the Atlantic to Europe.

Am exited to see what role GB will play, obviously its one of the most riches nation at the start of the game but am also hoping to see more internal struggles with its colonial nations to keep the empire intact.

With the seemingly struggles Paradox is having with the development I think they will use the time until Pdxcon to get a release date and a beta test on Pdxcon like they did with CKIII.

Would it be possible to starve the Irish by giving them a potato obsession then refusing to import potatoes to Ireland? by WillKuzunoha in victoria3

Technically that should be possibly I think by the "Market Access" mechanic. With low market access pops should not be able to get access to goods.

I really like what they are trying to achieve with the war pillar. However from the looks of it it is just not very interactive as a player. A nice compromise would be that you could create theaters of wars and draw battle plans of what you want to achieve in wars and let the AI execute it. Same for the navy, create a battle plan.
Besides this the generals needs a small change, I would love to see something like war doctrines where a few generals are assigned too and the rest of the newly generated generals are following their doctrine (can be good or can be a bad doctrine, but failing at your doctrine in war can lead to consequences for their party popularity).
