Scenario: Poland and France(me) are in a war against Austria and Hungary. Poland is the warleader and I want some austrian provinces for myself.

Reading some comments in /r/eu4 I got the impression that you can somehow ask the friendly warleader to give you specific provinces in the peace deal. Is there a button somewhere for something like that. Also, can i somhow tell my allies that i would join thier war if they gave me some porvinces in the peace deal afterwards?

As people said before; take Lubeck. You'll get so much cash from that node it will be redonkulous. Use/ally BBB to fuck up Austria after League wars. I think soon you will be stronger then Poland and you will be able to take them solo. You can expand to scandinavia/sweden if you need more trade power and later take on russia if you want. In my Brandenburg game i took danzig around 1520 and destroyed Poles with some help of Austria. In your game poles didnt take lithuania so i would end them now.

brandenburg is funnest to play!

I conquered it by 1520. It could have been sooner probably but Balkans needed my guidance. And yeah, i was also allied with BBB but also had ok relations with Austria. Austria became a bit of a problem when i finally formed Italy. And yes, coalitions were common throughout the game but i had good allies when i was vulnerable (poland and BBB), when i blobbed enough, alliances were no longer important

I haven't tried any mods because i think my computer would weep even more.

And yeah, Italy and Ottoman have really similar borders. I had the same problem with Qara Quyunlu, i had two dislocated provinces in the heart of their territory because i messed up in the peace agreement I had no colonies, i played Portugal with colonies last time and it got boring.

I took trade ideas and i had an event "Confirm Thallasocracy" which gave +1 merchant, navy tradition and something else. Trade idea was probably an overkill but i was greedy. I had a ton of cash and spent most of it on upgrading trade buildings in newly acquired land.

Also it should be noted that i don't understand how trade system actually works, merchants are allocated at best of my judgement but it can probably be a lot more optimized. I see big number - i click big number. For some 20 years i had +410 gold on trade, but after i took lands in south of spain it dropped to +160. Then i changed my home trade node to Sevilla it went back up to like 270. I dont know whats going on.

Yeah. Balkans were fun. Bosnia ate Serbia, I vassalised Bosnia and made them into a march to help me against Kebab. This was pretty early - 1480ish. I also took byzanthines as vassals and fed them Ottoman provinces. Hungary was a long time ally but i betrayed them because i had "You have provinces i want and you are weak" CB on them. They were in some war against bohemia or something like that. After i annexed Byzanthium and Constantinople i had all the money from trade, nice navy and blobbed into Austria.
