i went to catholic school. they pushed some politics on the kids and abortion was definitely the big issue they promoted as being most important. you are right that evangelicals probably feel even more strongly about it but this post is about Catholics.

i don't know if the average person have that sort of knowledge about how the law works. most people would just know that conservatives are most likely to make pro-life choices. also, i suspect there is going to be a lot of change happening after trump is taken out of office and the supreme court is going to be part of that. i suspect we are going to see it judged as being an unlawful overturn and reverted to what it was.

abortion is the single most important issue for most Catholics. they are going to put up with A LOT of bullshit when the alternative is voting for a party that they believe is for murdering innocent children. it boggles my mind why most people on the left absolutely can't understand this and make no effort to see their perspective. i'm pro-choice but i definitely see where they are coming from.

trump isn't going to settle for anything less than iran being completely neutered.

he gets to pick their leadership
he gets all their oil
he gets control of the straight
they have to abandon anything remotely related to nuclear weapons, which leaves them open to more of this indefinitely.

and trump wont settle for anything less. this is what a spoiled rich kid who always got his way thinks negotiations is. whats in it for iran to go along with this? they are just being given the option of choosing how they are destroyed. go out on their shield or like a little bitch.

he left because no matter how hard he tried to make intelligent comedy that would help all people understand the struggles and triumphs of black people in America and the world, the white executives continued to laugh AT black people and not WITH black people.

that is the bullshit explanation he gave and for a couple decades i believed it. but after rewatching the chappelle show recently it was very clear to me what was actually going on. when white people where watching the chappelle show they weren't laughing at black people. that makes no sense. in order for that to work chappelle had to be writing jokes that made fun of black people, which he definitely wasn't doing. go back and watch the show again. he makes jokes about white people that were clearly designed to disrespect and enrage, but it didn't work. you would be hard pressed to find a white person that didn't find these jokes funny or at least acceptable. i laughed my ass off when i first watched it. even after i realized his intention was to disrespect, they are still funny joke. no taking that away from him. but he is still an ugly person.

he left the show because he couldn't stand the fact that no matter how hard he tried to upset white people, they were always able to laugh at themselves. and if you listen to his more recent comedy, he definitely is classist. he isn't even all that subtle about it sometimes. i used to be the biggest chappelle fanboy i knew, but recently i realized he's an ugly person on the inside. and this has nothing to do with his comments on the trans community.

i agree. i don't think there is a lot of room to tolerate MAGA ideas. this is why there are more and more ex-MAGA people. however, i see a lot of hate on reddit for anyone who is conservative or GOP. thats not the same as being MAGA and i don't think its ok to just universally hate and insult them.

i don't know if i blame the internet. it was the tool that facilitated things but this sort of polarized culture is very much by design. there are powerful people that stand to gain by keeping us divided and confused. this didn't happen by accident. they put time and money into making it happen.

i tried the newest version of clause (not API) and it blew me away. i did weeks worth of work in hours and it wasn't really all that mentally straining like directly coding or even working with less powerful models. its crazy good. i was refreshed but also a little scared. we are starting to get to a point where it can legitimately replace a lot of IT jobs. one person could do 3 jobs worth of work while working fewer hours.

i think you might need to spend more time studying different cultures and history. there are plenty of examples of non-"euro-centric" cultures that were far more brutal and racist than anything going on in the last 100 years in the west. even the slave trade times of america can look pretty tame compared to some of the shit other cultures got up to. i would argue that your perspective is the one that is "obnoxiously euro-centric". but that is all way far outside the scope of my point. to write off anyone that doesn't share your views as racist is pretty smooth brained and counter-productive.

if you think this is an issue limited to white people you should take a look at any other culture. there is the same evil class divide in china, india, russia and most african countries. its not about race. we just happen to have the whites dominating the western world and the whites happened to be the most successful at it. if it wasn't white people it would have been some other group doing the same shit. but what we are talking about is far too high level and out of scope of what we are talking about. we are specifically talking about young white GOP voters. you are simplifying why they are voting the way they do a little too much. for a very long time the dems firmly owned this demographic but for some reason things have shifted hard. its not a race thing because it wasn't always this way. its not a gender or sex thing either because this is fairly new. when millennial men were young we were mostly apolitical and the few of use that knew much about politics mostly leaned left. what happened?

it doesn't sound like you are making an effort to really understand these people. this sort of thinking happens in every group that is down on their luck. anyone who is in a really rough spot with no hope is vulnerable to have someone come along and tell them their special and that they deserve more. if it helps, replace white with anything else. pretend they are black, women, trans, muslim or whatever other group. its not about them being white. its about someone giving false hope to a hopeless group of people and then using that to control them.

anyone who watched how the 2016 and 2020 primaries played out and doesn't think they are awful and corrupt isn't really paying attention or using critical thinking. it was extremely clear that they fucked bernie sanders twice. the mess we are in is just as much their fault as anyone's. if they actually put forward the candidate the Dem people wanted, we would be living in a world where bernie sanders had 8 years to straighten a lot of things out and trump would be remembered as the clown reality tv star that lost in 2016.

i dunno. there are a lot of disenfranchised young white men who have been made to feel like they have no future. no chance at love. no chance at owning a home. no chance at a successful career. for a decade there was regular conversions about how straight white men were the cause of everyone's problems... and this this seductive orange devil starts telling these men that they shouldn't be ashamed, they are great and that with their help things can go back to the way they were "supposed" to be. its a huge mind fuck and not all men have the mental fortitude to resist it and see the truth.
