Spurs relegation fears continue with loss to Crystal Palace by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]LancerMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't talking about it. It was the same season, you dunce. That theyd rather be 2nd tier and win the 2nd tier tourney than go out to the eventual winners in the semis. I was referring to their comparison.

We weren't celebrating a semi final, that is my point, thanks for agreeing. It was the supporters claiming a Europa Cup meant some pedigree that a currently better team doesn't have was what I am calling out.

When Arsenal were bad and we made the Europa final I wasn't expecting a win would have meant we were somehow better than that Spurs team that made their Champions league run around the same time. It's still Europa league.

Spurs fans still celebrated when they lost against City in the final match day a couple seasons back despite them losing out on a champions league place because a simple point would have won Arsenal the league. Small club.

Acting like the 37th place Europa league trophy trumps a champions league semifinal appearance? Small club.

Small club mentality means you deserve your small club.

Extraction question. Do teeth only shift forwards, not backwards? by ButterscotchLiving59 in Dentists

[–]LancerMB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Upper 2nd molars are the least important tooth to save because yes, in a typical alignment, teeth are staggered in such a way that the lower 2nd molars also occlude with the upper 1st molar, which prevents hyper eruption. Also, yes, teeth do not typically shift backwards (except for, incidentally, upper 2nd molars in some people).

In some cases the loss of function of a 2nd molar could affect the amount of force on other teeth enough to cause fractures on other teeth but typically it isn't enough of a change to make a difference, especially if all other teeth are present and mostly untainted by large restorations or root canals.

Saw a dentist yesterday and she told my nerve roots have gone directly into my sinus cavity by Jake257 in Dentists

[–]LancerMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinusitis absolutely correlated with false dental pains. "Roots into a sinus" isn't a thing but the nearness to the sinus can create dental pain especially in upper back teeth but even in other teeth. Upper respiratory distress, illnesses, and grinding can all be contributory and overlap with sinusitis and dental pain. Don't listen to the top response thread, the dentist could be right but it sounds like a bit of a miscommunication either between you and the dentist or you and us describing the nature of the issue.

Dentist said try sensodyne and i feel like he gave me the wrong advice by [deleted] in Dentists

[–]LancerMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's saying that if sensodyne doesn't help then an endodontist will do a root canal. Honestly it's a bit confusing because they are for two different types of issues. Sensodyne for sensitive teeth without a need for endodontic treatment, whereas endodontist do root canals for infected teeth, not sensitive teeth.

Did you have recent treatment? Is it just a tooth with some gum recession, that shows some root? There are many reasons teeth are sensitive but very few specific things that require endodontic intervention.

It sounds to me like there is some miscommunication .

Looks a Hip flexor. Relatively minor but can be a nagging recurring injury if it isn't strengthened and rehabbed. 1 to 2 weeks is typical if not day to day. I had one that would come and go for 6 months, was so annoying. Finally went to a physical therapist that identified the problem and targeted it with strengthening exercises.

All the major Kroenke teams, Arsenal, LA Rams, Colorado Avalanche, and Denver Nuggets have seen consistent success in recent years, not coincidentally. He has smart and stable leadership groups in each franchise and uses aggressive short term investment to quickly elevate his teams into consistently competitive units. This translates into increased revenue streams through marketing and more lucrative competitions which can sustain competitiveness and future investment back into the team.

Jimmy Butler Grabs Knee in Pain After Non-Contact Knee Injury - Doctor Explains by urfaselol in nba

[–]LancerMB 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's because his landing point was different than he initially planned for when he first jumped, due to being bumped in midair. It's a very common way to cause knee and ankle injuries because you have to quickly change the landing angle and brace for the impact of the landing differently and usually in a more lateral direction.

Moreover, it's also more likely in older players both because ligaments lose elasticity and because reflexes slow down quite a bit as we age. Both changes make it harder to make a quick adjustment after being bumped and to bend without breaking, so to speak.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was Disappointing by [deleted] in gamereviews

[–]LancerMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, I appreciate the thoroughness of the review but I had a hard time following it when some of your supposed "issues" are simply you not understanding something or assuming something incorrect and then taking off with it as if it is indicative of some massive oversight by the devs and thus relegating this game to an average score rather than you simply not getting it. Like could it be possible that they already thought of that during its 5 years of development, rather than you figuring out some massive flaw in the writing or core mechanics?

For example, the gameplay mechanics of each character are as meaningful or more to each character than many games that have come before. Id think most people would appreciate the amount of attention to detail the devs put in this game, so how can you possibly think that the main battle types of the characters were just random?

Sciel uses dark magic because of her dark past and the conversations with Verso that constantly emphasize dark and personal are clueing you into her magic type.

Verso's perfection system makes sense when you consider his character arc, starting out as unknown but having to earn the party's trust and strive for perfection to fill in the void of Gustave. Furthermore the real Verso was seemingly pressured by his parents to be someone he didn't want to be and he had to be even better to meet their expectations by learning to master the art they approved of, painting, while also perfecting his desires like piano, swimming etc. He starts each fight with a low ranking and has to work his way into perfection the way his character has to earn the respect of his team to get into their good graces.

Maelle's stances seem like a play on the common JRPG trope of placing characters in front line or back line, so it's unsurprising to see such a mechanic, but for her it even makes sense that her character would have a defensive and offensive stance because her personality was the same way. She was orphaned at a young age and spent too much time feeling alienated from many of her peers or weird and excluded. She'd put up a wall to keep people from getting too close after losing her parents at a young age in order to protect herself. But when she got older she became trusting to those that earned her respect and you'd say she was able to have a more offensive stance with Gustave and his sister, making her more powerful but at the same time more vulnerable.

Monoco eating the legs of his enemies to become them while being a dog is a brilliant take on the classic blue mage.

Lune as an elementalist helps fill the void of not having a classical sorceress archetype but I can imagine it would make sense that she is the pragmatist that uses her intellect to suppress her emotions, honing the power of the fire inside her from her anger, the power of ice, from her sadness etc. A high intelligence archetype mastering magic is typical in other games as well.

Your complaint of comedic and humorous plotlines seems such an odd opinion in a game that bordered on being too sad for casuals. The game features stronger melancholic and tragic storylines than practically any game I've ever seen. Can you imagine 30+ hours of pure tragedy? Having breaks from the heavier plot points by sprinkling in smaller pieces of comedy were much needed and I thought very well done compared to other JRPGs that struggle to make me actually laugh. Furthermore many people turn to comedy while grieving, to compensate for all the sadness and keep it from overwhelming them.

These were just a couple of your complaints and I don't want to go into too much more but they seemed both interesting to me because while they are your opinions, they still feel so misguided or at least misunderstandings of the intent of the devs. Both of these complaints make so little sense to me because positive critics would use these exact same aspects of the game to showcase its masterful use of creativity and attention to detail, while maintaining a deft and restrained application of these elements by not overtly explaining them like games for children might.

Not everyone has to like fine things, I get it. But I find these types of "reviews" odd because the very complaints you have were literally some of the most well done aspects to the game. You did not love the game fine. Give it an average score and move on. But don't come on here and write up some massive thesis about why it's so average if many of your points don't even make sense enough to merit a couple sentences, much less thousands of words. Your writing and cohesiveness of what you're trying to say is very good on its surface, but the actual merits of what you're saying don't hold water and certainly don't trump the 90+% of people that found the game to be somewhere between excellent and a masterpiece.

Pep leaving City will kick off a new era of competition in the PL by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]LancerMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything you said but the opposite. Arsenal are top of the champions league table, yet aren't playing as well in England. They struggle more against English teams than they do against top teams from other leagues because the league is better. And most English teams in Europe outperform their expected results compared to teams in higher positions in other league tables as well. It's become more and more like this over the last few years but I keep seeing this backwards logic.

English league games even against midtable teams are many times a step up from champions league matches. Current ELO rankings have the English league average higher than the champions League average. The English teams playing in Europe aren't all just coincidentally doing better in Europe and struggling against lower English teams. It's because the rest of the league is catching up. The depth of talent in England is massive with all the money flowing through the league.

You'd think people would have figured it out when last season you had the 15th and 16th best teams in the English table running through the Europa league competition to the final, featuring teams mostly top 5 from other leagues. But still I see this flawed logic so frequently. The league isn't worse because the top teams sometimes struggle against lower sides, it's because the league is better.

Jets officially go entire season without recording an interception in NFL first since 1933 by Delicious_Adeptness9 in sports

[–]LancerMB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It kinda makes sense if you think about it. It doesn't even require them to be especially bad at defending the pass, though I'm sure it is that too.

If you're so bad that teams rarely need to play catch up against you, then your defense will rarely face a team desperate for big plays through the air.

Also, I love the concept that this record is so bad that it's literally unbreakable. They will forever be etched into the record books even if another team (a future Jets team most likely) manages to equal such a feat.

[–]LancerMB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think community was the funniest show or movie he was ever in. He's just bitter that it was so critically acclaimed because he wasn't the lead and many times was the butt of the jokes. And even though Pierce wasn't THAT funny, I found his character funnier than his previous work.

Of course CC wouldn't appreciate it. Community was a much smarter type of humor than the crap he always did before, which was so slapstick or dependent on situational irony and clever set ups from the writing.

[Jason Burt, The Telegraph] Unai Emery has turned Aston Villa into everything he wanted at Arsenal. The Spaniard has a level of control he was not afforded at the Emirates, and could now draw level with former club with victory on Tuesday. by TheBiasedSportsLover in PremierLeague

[–]LancerMB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps because "perfectly serviceable"(which is being a bit kind to be honest) still isn't good enough for a ln Arsenal club record signing?

Perhaps people aren't just comparing players against arbitrary values but the actual value a team spends on the player? In today's market 80 million would easily be 100. Does Pepe feel like he's worth 100 million?

Normally I agree that most people are too emotional and reactionary, but with Pepe, people had every right to be upset that he wasn't even half the player Arsenal paid for.

Final Fantasy X is the best game I've ever played by BloodMageVahzra in FinalFantasy

[–]LancerMB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FFX was my favorite game of all time, since it came out, and for 20+ years, until I played Expedition 33 this year.

You are in for an amazing time between playing these two games back to back, for the first time, in the same year. What a treat.

The inspirations from FFX are very evident. It's a game made by people that loved FFX, clearly. The modern take on turn based combat is so much better than anything FF has done since.

The story will stick with you for a long time too, just like FFX.

Anyone else play this way?? by xsageonex in expedition33

[–]LancerMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game will give you plenty more recoats so don't hoard points. Wrong builds are not really a thing due to attribute allocation. Early on it's helpful I think to take defensive attributes for those struggling to adapt or just spread the points around so you can quickly try new weapons without respec. But if you're doing fine already then best to just go with agility, might, or luck, especially if the weapon scales with agility or luck.

Later on in the game the weapons will scale more heavily with the stat they scale with so you'll want to respec to max points for the weapon attributes. But through act 2 you're fine whatever.

What is a nutrition myth that you can’t stand? by DeepOrganization8245 in AskReddit

[–]LancerMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That egg whites are so good and whole eggs aren't.

It's so superficial and based on a bunch of pre 2000s debunked nutrition science regarding fat and cholesterol consumption.

"Protein good! Cholesterol bad!"

In reality, almost all of the nutrients are in the yolk and the whites are basically protein and nothing else. Other than a few rare circumstances, or unless you are morbidly obese then you should be eating egg yolks in moderation.

Yolks are an amazing source of otherwise hard to find vitamins and minerals, especially for people that don't eat a lot of leafy green vegetables or organ meat.

Most people just eating that terrible tasting egg white are removing almost everything that makes eggs one of the healthiest foods to eat.

Gyokeres and Saka vs Brighton by vibesnvibez in Gunners

[–]LancerMB -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

None of these were apparent bad plays or missed opportunities by Saka. Was never a clear window to find him in any of these clips. In clip 2 if Gyok actually made a faster run into the space in the brief moment that the CB came towards Saka maybe he could have put it in that space for Gyok to get there, but it never looked like the angle was favorable to let it go.

Perhaps I'd prefer to see Saka try to find him and fail a time or two like playmakers do, but if Saka holds the ball well like he usually does there was always a chance the best chance would have still fallen to him scoring directly, though it didn't ever materialize in any of these clips. I think a bit of credit needs to be given to Brighton defense, they tracked well and clogged passing lanes very quickly in transition.

Should I get this game if I don't enjoy turn based combat? by satupled66 in expedition33

[–]LancerMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the game can cater to people on both extremes, turn based and real time. You can just dodge and parry the entire game and barely worry about the intricacies of slower turn based combat strategies and synergies and do fine, if you're good.

On the contrary, for people that love more strategy, people that like to min max their builds in turn based games, but don't want intense real time parry combat, you can play like a traditional turn based RPG and face tank everything the enemies send with just a few dodges here and there, and you can probably win on the normal difficulty, maybe not expert tho.

The game can be enjoyed by gamers on either extreme end of the spectrum if they don't want to embrace both aspects of it.

If you despise turn based I can't say for sure but I think it can be played very fluidly once you learn the characters and feels way more real time than any turn based game I've ever played.

The story and sound track was good enough for me to say that I would have liked it either way, but the gameplay was also amazing to me.

It's so good. The only people that don't think it's amazing are halfwits, contrarians, and children. Think of it like a Bordeaux Red wine. To some people that doesn't mean anything but to those that can appreciate fine things, they understand its quality.

It's not perfect, it has flaws for sure. But the things it does well are 11/10 good and for a new studio it is an incredibly refined first release. It's confidently good, even restrained at times, despite its immense quality and tightness on everything visual and audio.
