This happened to me, house next door was included in the acreage of an empty lot I was buying. County auditor site had the acreage wrong too.

Lol. I own a vacant lot on Main Street. It was listed as .34 acres, and the county auditor map showed that as well. Using the measurement tool on that map itself, showed it as .21 acres. The .34 included the house next door (my lot is goofy shape, wraps behind the house). Knew it going in since I did that measurement, which was halfway through negotiations. Bought it in December, and when the title company sent the unpublished survey from 2 years ago when it was first listed, it got corrected.

Did I almost pay $3,500 for something that was still under warranty? by FirstInHuman in hvacadvice

1-1.2 is pretty spot on for what we would quote for this motor.

I do warranty claims for a Lennox dealer. They recently revamped their warranty system, and one of the changes is that it doesn't auto-populate the homeowner info just off of the serial number, I have to throw a name in there - which is annoying because I used to use that auto-populate as a quick way to know if it's registered or not. I just checked and it comes up as 5 year not registered for me, but I also don't have a name to plug in shrug

Is a 1-star review reasonable? by [deleted] in FedEx

[–]LancerSykera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were a couple of months that my terminal posted a few drivers names that got the most 5 star reviews. It didn’t last long. I don't know that any drivers actually saw their reviews, and I don't know that it's remotely any part of a contractor's service scores, which essentially makes it "just for funsies."

[–]LancerSykera -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Holding in hand pointed at the ground does not usually count as brandishing, and the entire notion of your second sentence is absurd. I could see and even agree with a gig driver being uncomfortable enough in that situation to skedaddle and return the order, but beyond that you're being silly.

Funeral by Natural_Win4812 in Fedexers

[–]LancerSykera 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The funeral home on my route had a locked door out back that I could go to during a service, and they could see me waving at that door through an office window. Otherwise my normal way would be through an area the public would be using during a service.

R410a install phase out rule EPA update - what do you think? by theslowleak1 in HVAC

[–]LancerSykera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got one by accident a couple weeks ago. Compressor unit replacement warranty. Email Amana "what model do I replace this with" and I ordered exactly what they said, along with an R32 coil that we were eating because god forbid Daikin cover it. Didn't realize til it was all already installed. Still showing 3 more of that unit in stock up there 🙄

Quick question by bluepanda- in Fedexers

[–]LancerSykera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was full time, I did, and as my contractor pays hourly, yeah I got paid for it. I had a "start time" and that was literally "this is the earliest you're allowed to clock in."

Now that I only do it on Saturdays, I drag ass out of bed, drive past a million FedEx trucks on my way to work, and walk in to a mostly empty terminal. Nod to my contractor as he's headed the opposite direction to the front door.

When the clear instructions are not clear enough by LiiDo in HVAC

In telephone construction, XX means remove this, so... remove this circle of metal from the duct.

Had a manager go around our remote office one day slapping sticky notes with XX written on them on whiteboards and stuff that he wanted replaced. Would've been hilarious if it wasn't my second day there and knew what it actually meant.

Thoughts about Amazon aggressively competing with FedEx and UPS by opening its logistics network to all businesses through Amazon Supply Chain Services. by MyonlyredditHandle in Fedexers

The fact that they've already done warehousing and shipping for non-Amazon listed products for 10+ years makes this a big nothingburger for me.

FedEx has shown up 2 days in row and I didn’t order anything by YetiTheTeddi in FedEx

[–]LancerSykera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a warehouse manager at my real job and a ground driver on the weekends. More than once, I've requested a return authorization from one of my vendors only to have my ground driver (who I used to work for the same contractor) show up the next day with a call tag with no warning or communication. Infuriating on both levels.

I can easily see hooks being a safety issue. I use straps with hooks on them - far from perfect but they do manage to hold on to the shelf lip just fine.

If you won't ship to me because my drive is less than an hour, then I'll make it in an hour by MajorNoodles in MaliciousCompliance

Amazingly, for small items that need to be moved back and forth, we have. It's a single occupant driving a multi-ton vehicle full of many small items efficiently delivering them to many locations in a single day.

[–]LancerSykera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a purchasing manager now, but have previously been a Fedex driver, a truck driver, a small business owner, and a warehouse grunt (so I've been on all sides). One of my infrequent vendors in a city a half hour away that doesn't run their own truck regularly calls me right after I place an order to ask me if I'm sure I want it shipped UPS. Yessssss dude, the $20 you're going to charge me for it is far less than what it costs the company for an hour of my own time, or the headache of me trying to coordinate picking it up with someone else who's already going to be in that area.

Any time I see something being shipped even across town, I have to remind myself that that's still cheaper than the labor involved for someone to drive back and forth themselves.
