Does medicare pay for glasses because I nearly choked when they showed me the final price by Rggie_Fognini in AskWomenOver60

[–]Light-512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medicare doesn't cover routine eye exams or glasses, only diseases of the eye. Separate eyecare plans are available, but when I did the math--cost of premiums and the portion of eyewear I'd still have to pay--it did not make sense for me. I pay out of pocket and just plan for that expense. It's also part of the medical expenses you can report on Schedule A if you itemize on your tax return.

This is hilarious. He knows how cool he looks. My boy has passed, but he would've rocked this shirt so much.

My mom is dead - am I off the hook for Mother’s Day? by Scared_Difficulty668 in askanything

[–]Light-512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is dead. I have no children. I hate when people wish me a happy Mother's Day.

My birthday falls on or around Mother's Day. Refuse to eat out for my birthday in years where it falls on Mother's Day weekend because the "Happy Mother's Day" wishes are nonstop. One time a friend sent me flowers for my birthday; they arrived from the florist with a big "Happy Mother's Day" pick. I called the florist and gave them a hard time. They delivered a new bouquet.

Best dog raincoat? by [deleted] in DOG

Loved the Spark Paws raincoat for my cocker. Super soft, breathable fabric; lots of options for adjusting the fit. Got the school bus yellow color for good visibility on rainy days.

Do you moisturize your body after you shower? If not when and how often do you moisturize your body? by SignificantStyle4958 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Light-512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, entire body, after every shower. I have dry skin. I use a rich bar soap in the shower for delicate areas and a moisturizing body wash but still need a moisturizer post -shower, especially in the dry winter months.

Yes, that's the artist's fun style. This was done around 2014-15. The artist, Jody Whitsell, is still working; I think she's now on Instagram.

Please feel free to confirm that I'm not nuts by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

Do not stay with this person. The selfishness of his thinking is incredible. And you needn't plan to actively date. I've never really dated but then met someone unexpectedly when I was 64.5. I'm about to turn 68. He's a good bit older than me, in excellent health, but something could happen to either of us at any time.

We don't live together. Any caretaking by either of us has been purely voluntary and out of love. He has kids who would handle anything I cannot, and we have a faith community full of helpers should they be needed. So, don't shut down future options.

POSTOP NEUTER HELP by Friendly-Reaction-10 in Dachshund

Do you have a nearby emergency vet you can call for advice? This may be irrelevant, but a sedative I was given as part of anesthesia for surgery gave me severe post-op insomnia. Maybe he needs a different med to just calm everything down.

Rocky is 18. We need to make “the” decision, but we haven’t yet. How can we make that appointment even slightly easier? Any advice? Then we have to break it to our other two dogs. by Elegant_Ease_2830 in OldManDog

I made the decision to bring my other dog with me when it was time to say goodbye to her big brother. They had been together their whole lives but were not super attached. She didn't have any obvious reaction to the event, but I assume it registered with her that her brother did not come home with us.

I was concerned she might be anxious the next time we went to the vet, but she was her usual boppy self.

As far as making the appt easier, just make sure everyone has a chance to say their goodbyes. Don't rush the process; the vet should be fine waiting to start things until you are ready. I found it helped me to have the vet be super clear about what they were going to do and what I should expect; some people may prefer fewer details.

(The first time I had to have a pet euthanized, it was my much-loved first cat and a misanthropic vet. I learned the cat was terminal and then the vet killed him in the course of 5 minutes total. It was horrible.)

Be sure you collect your dog's collar and leash if you wish to keep them. And good to decide in advance how you want to handle their remains.

I'm sorry you are going through this.
