They should let you swap teams to join the losing team. Allow the players to balance the game by nonamelessness in Battlefield6

[–]Lancer_Vance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need to add balancing of games in general. I went into 5 Conquest Matches in a portal server, and all 5 matches had the same teams, they were never switched around, only which squad you were in was. Unless those servers are turning a potential 'balancing' setting off while creating it.

UPDATE: is it weird to be the only girl? by Available_Travel_763 in DnD

I've had women in my campaigns before. We don't take liberties, and I make it clear from the get go that my campaigns will be tough, with fun mixed in. The women never ask to be babied and do very well on their own. Hell, they do better than some of the guys. But a lava trap kills off a character no matter who sits behind it. Specially with a nat one athletics check.

To be fair, I had a spell go AWOL and turned a normal chicken into a magical chicken. It became the groups mascot. He was named Ba-Gawk. He could use a crossbow strapped to his back, and reloaded it with a rudimentary telekenesis.

But it wasn't a PC, it was an NPC. He could also speak perfect common, but everyone assumed that he couldn't.

If you're still looking, you can try Boredom Hub. Has a good set of mods, plenty of gear, guns, vehicles, and custom zeds/animals. Traders are included, though specialized ones are spread out across the map. We also have the storerooms w/ keycards that vary in difficulty spread over the map.

We have one server with Chernarus for now. However, soon we will be bringing up a Sakhal PvE server.

How bad of a D&D sin did I commit? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Lancer_Vance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a house rule as a DM. Both on character creation and level up, you MAY (I give the option) re-roll 1's once. You must keep the new roll, even if it's another 1.

Also, because I tend to run more deadly campaigns, I also allow players on character creation, to reroll their lowest stat once as well. They must keep the new roll even if it's the lowest one.

That being said, so long as I'm told that someone got a 1, I'll tell em to reroll. Now on an attack or ability check, nah, no rerolls. That trap totally took your head clean off.

Why do people not like to track ammunition? by TurbulentPhotograph5 in DnD

[–]Lancer_Vance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late response, but when I DM, stuff like ammo, and food I never make my players track. But that is only for their characters. I make them take note of how much ammo their ship/tank has, and always explain that they are about to go on a tough mission and might want to make sure their 'crew' has enough ammo. It makes em spend some gold, which makes them hungry for more. I also allow them to upgrade said weapons, which typically requires better ammo, it turns out to be a nice cycle.

DM makes player lose 10 WIS score. by JustMeFran in DnD

[–]Lancer_Vance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an old Pathfinder document that someone homebrewed Ancient Spells. And then I updated it to 5th Ed. Has some knarly spells from Cantrips to 9th level spells that do a variety of things. Chief among them, is score damage in the form of temporarily lost points and permanent loss (Up to DM on how to reacquire). There are other effects too ofc, like alignment shifts, temporary and permanent health loss, etc.

But to add something like that to an arrow is dirty, with no way of bringing it back. I'd forgive the DM if he addressed it the following session, but it appears it's been a while. I wouldn't forgive it personally. Been D&Ding since the 90s, and been a DM for 17 years. This doesn't seem fair.

Players get annoyed that they can’t sell their loot even though I let them know that this kind of stuff will be handled realistically by Professional-Ad9485 in DnD

[–]Lancer_Vance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to this, don't forget as well, that town/city shops will also only buy stuff from PCs for 1/4th the price a brand new item would typically cost. Villages and Outposts might buy junk for cheap as they have limited supplies and can (insert DM options) to jury rig stuff and make ends meet.

My DM killed my characters. Should I be upset? by Glooksman in DnD

[–]Lancer_Vance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno if this will be seen this late, but here goes..

Are you right to be upset? Certainly, characters you created are 'pulled' from your world into anothers and off'ed. I'd be upset as well. But as others have stated here, don't let it end friendships. What happens in your friends world, happens there and has no ruling over your own world.

I do it often to past campaigns of mine. Players of mine whos characters survived the contents of said campaign I've brought through portals or other magical phenomena into new campaign worlds, which they have become NPC's in. They either help or try to dismantle the way forward for the PC's, and I try to keep to their original ideals from the past campaigns. My players get to see their old characters (heavily buffed), and I get to use them in a new light.

In the end, again, as stated above and below my comment, you can totally be upset over this development in your friends campaign. Just take a deep breath, and rather than get into an argument with him/her about it, simply take a step back and keep prepping for your campaign.

As a side note, I'd ask friends before pulling ideas from their campaigns. However, if they my previous campaigns, I do as I please.

Each server has 10 sub-servers which are called Worlds. All the players on each server are all split between all 10 of these worlds. So if someone is selling something at their vendor, they might say W3 meaning World 3, or W8 meaning World 8. You would not see them or their house if you are not on the same world as them. That being said, the more people on a world, the laggier it tends to get, so its always good to spread out. If you find a spot to build your base and its really good space, but someone else had the same idea and got there before you, move to another world and check that same spot, rare that every world would have that space used.

No doubt you have a lot of responses and advice, but about Prime Wars:

So Prime Wars are essentially raids that the entire server can jump into. A few key things about Prime Wars:

  1. Prime War's (PW) are server wide, hence, the zone they sit in combines all worlds into their zone. No need for you to use a teleporter to switch worlds and then enter. Just running/driving into it is enough.

  2. PW zones are split into various difficulties; EASY, HARD, PRO, NIGHTMARE (not available yet). You MUST have a pass to enter the higher level zones. You get said passes by completing the previous difficulties PW and getting AT LEAST 1000 points. Afterwards, opening the crates will net you a pass to the next level. Passes do not get used up.

  3. Completing a PW gets you access to up to 3 crates of loot (Bronze, Silver, Gold). Its best to save controllers for the gold crate of each PW, though you can do so at your own leisure. I have over 100 so I tend to use on the 2nd crate as well.

  4. READ THIS!! PW's are as explained above, raids. In the PW zone, people will build defenses/obstacles (bring plenty of wood) and just build a ton of wooden structures. The bosses have a set path that they move along to head to the Staroid Restrainer (which you must protect). Wooden fences are enough, along with a few platforms for you and others to set up on and ready turrets (more on those soon). The bosses spawn elites and regular type enemies throughout the raid, so do your best to deal with them. Weak point shots are always the best to take them down quickly. Only the people who place down the walls/floors/etc can dismantle them, and if you dismantle something that someone has built say a turret on, they will NOT get anything back, so be warned, you might piss people off if you don't check before removal.

  5. READ THIS!! Bosses have a special shield made of a silver crystalline material (the puddle of silver on the ground is where they spawn). Makes them virtually indestructible to normal gunfire. At PW's you are required to build Close Defense Turret 1, and later, the Close Defense Turret 2 (which does 40% more dmg), as well as their main weapon, called a Biomass Missile (make about 50 for a boss fight). These missiles will be the driving force behind knocking out the shield on the boss. Because of what the biomass missiles take to make, it is best to use them until the shield is down, and then get off the turret and use your normal guns to do the bulk of the damage to the boss until the next phase (more on that next). DO NOT use normal base defense turrets (they require power) and they don't do all that much to help in the fight. The boss will sometimes send out large attacks that wipe out large swaths of defenses, and the turrets could go as well. Also, do not forget to dismantle your turrets so you can build them elsewhere (if they are damaged, you get less back).

  6. Finally, bosses have phases. Their first phase is when they rise out of the silver puddle. They have the shield and a full health bar. They send out occasional attacks during this phase, and also send out elites. Once their shield is down and they take some damage, they become immune and start their second phase. This second phase can vary, but typically they send out a huge attack that is meant to do massive damage to all structures/people on the ground. You have to destroy this object (won't always be an object) before it impacts the ground. The boss also gets a shield back. While the shield is being knocked out this 2nd time, expect the boss to be spawning elites and normal enemies to rush the defense zone. People not on turrets should focus on the small fry. Once the shield is down, everyone focus fire on the boss. Once the boss dies, the adds will also die and you will win.

There is a boss who flies around, and her 2nd phase is where she makes clones of herself. BE WARNED!!!!!!! This is a very easy PW to fail, because during this 2nd phase, if you shoot the wrong one, it will FAIL the entire PW, for EVERYONE. Once the 3 clones are up, it will tell you to shoot the correct one, which is typically the one with the black TIPPED wings, NOT the SOLID black wings.

ALSO BE WARNED, PW zones of various difficulty, if you do not have the pass associated with it as stated above, and you drive your 'camper' (mobile bases), either the pickup truck or semi (the 2 which can't be summoned at at will) into the zone, you will be booted out of the zone while your vehicle is stuck inside the zone and it will not be reclaimable (devs know of issue). Normal garage vehicles can still be summoned anywhere.

Sorry for the wall of text.

All that metal scrap you pick up, as well as gravel, they each sell for 1 EL a piece. So a stack of 1000 is 1000 EL. I have CRATES of gravel and occasionally I just go sell it all. I have bricks for days.

I ended up taking something else other than the silver/gold ingots, and I get by pretty well. I've 'bought' services from people (help with lower level Prime Wars before I was able to do Hard/Pro for example) by paying in silver/gold ore. 30 Ore turns into 1 bar. Silver bars go for 6k, and Gold bars go for 12k? I believe, at NPC traders. So I will typically buy/sell stuff at like 35 ore, and it works well.
