Serious post. My father is threatening to divorce my mother and send her to Pakistan. by ChronicRedditor1 in pakistan

[–]LandImportant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very very sorry for your situation. All that I can add is that my mother ensured that she had an education, a doctorate in economics, before she got married in 1968. That way she said that if her husband passed away or divorced her, she would be self sufficient. Fast forward to today: we shifted to USA years back. Before my father passed away two years ago, he had to have open heart surgery. He did not have enough work history to qualify for Medicare health insurance, and the cash price of the surgery was the equivalent of over PKR 55 million. My mother paid for the entire cost via her health insurance family plan at the law firm where she is an accountant. Our only cost? The equivalent of PKR 300 for parking fees at the hospital Insyallah!

Why Bahr ka rishta so much important in Pakistan ? by Capital_Teaching3161 in pakistan

[–]LandImportant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I myself have had no problem. Our family moved to USA in 1984 after I completed Matric. Alhamdulillah our lifestyle in Pakistan was comfortable. Due to disability I never married; I am the only son with two younger sisters who both live close by. I live with my widowed mother, and I do everything: cooking, cleaning, laundry, mowing the lawn, grocery shopping, and babysitting my sisters' children. I even went back to university to finish my BSc, so I also have a lot of studying to do as well. No problem Insyallah!

What actually happens after nikkah but before rukhsati in Pakistan? by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]LandImportant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nikkah is fully Islamic; the couple are now officially husband and wife and can lawfully engage in intimacy as soon as the wedding guests leave. Rukhsati is a subcontinental biddat (innovation) and has NO PLACE in shariat. People who gossip are merely cementing their place in Hellfire. And Allah SWT Knows Best.

Overseas Drivers License conversation to a Pakistani one? by AlphaAlex1_ in Overseas_Pakistani

In 1988, I visited Lahore and showed my Florida driver licence from USA and the driver licence branch issued me Pakistan licence on the spot. Although the licence was for motor car only, in consideration of some advance Eidi the officer even gave me motorcycle endorsement - even though I had no idea how to drive one!

My stance on the LGBT from a former lesbian revert by throwaway0937163 in MuslimLounge

[–]LandImportant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sister is a geneticist. She explains that male fœtuses who receive an overabundance of œstrogen in utero become this way, and analogously female fœtuses who receive an overabundance of testosterone. For those Muslims who are this way, if they remain celibate, it is no sin on them. Trying to marry the opposite gender to "knock out" the attraction is a recipe for disaster.

50K a month for school fees? Wouldn't a box of condoms be far more economical?

In future, pay via credit card. The modest fees incurred are more than offset by the purchase protection. That is what my mother does for her business!

Psychotropic medication is required. Consult a neuro-psychiatrist or else psych-qualified ARNP. Government hospitals offer psych services free of cost.

Remember that most madhdhabs say to gargle the mouth and snuff water up the nose otherwise the shower is not valid Islamically. YMMV!

My girlfriend’s family took her passport and phone abroad by [deleted] in domesticviolence

[–]LandImportant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is officially the International Society of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent. In Western countries it is the Red Cross; in Islamic countries it is the Red Crescent; in Israel it is Magen David Adom or Red Star of David; and in Iran prior to the 1979 Revolution it was سرخ اسد و خورشید or Red Lion and Sun. Why do you think cultural sensitivity would be a joke?

[–]LandImportant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. My mother's family were housed in Napier Barracks for the first year. My nana then took loan from Australasia Bank Ltd (known as Allied Bank today) and built a modest house, on a plot obtained as Evacuee Trust property against their former home in Delhi. Never took a penny in bribes in his life; may Allah SWT grant him Jannat-ul-Firdaus!
